This is an area in which I’m still kind of clueless and trying to figure out. Being able to understand what I’m looking at. Milky? Clear? Amber?

Yeah, I heard the terms, understand what they mean, have seen them before, but still trying to understand.

These are from just about 56 days from indication, definitely in week 8. I was thinking they will be ready for me on Saturday. But I’d like some second opinions if you don’t mind, along with any guidance. Thanks.

I think these pics are pretty good, and by ‘zooming’ on the pic, I think you can see what you need to see. I’m not sure. To me this looks like predominantly ‘milky, with no amber’.

When the bud looks ready it is, look at the trichs on the bud you prefer at harvest and then you know.

I just harvest of my calyxs and pistils, magnification pointless :-)

How long have you been growing?

I think I need another year or 10 to read a plant that well.

It's a little hard to tell at that magnification, but I think those trichs need to milk up a little. I was always told to look at the head.of the trich. I also don't see any Amber. As far as your buds in general, not too sure. The pistils are brown, but I can't tell if they've receded. The buds look fat tho... Anyone else?

From what I can see, you need about another week.
Your plant will get an overall look of doneness ( you'll recognize it soon enough)
You'll have few white hairs, most will have shriveled, reddened and receded.

Look under a larger bud at the first node, there's a calyx there......

Probably almost a decade.

What i found about magnifying trichs is that its by far easier to just go by the look of the bud.

You need to learn to harvest without first then magnify to fine tune, aint no point looking at bud thats not ready.

I got bored of it and get better harvest judging the overall plant.

None of this should be hqrd or technical in reality :-)

i've found that the angle you're looking from is important. if you look straight down, most of the trichs will look milky, but a lot of that is the light bouncing back off the base of the stalk the trichome head sits on. if you get a good angle from the side, you can see that many of the trichs you thought were milky are actually still clear. i've found that to be the case when i look and it seems like i have a lot of milky trichs but no ambers....you'll usually have at least a few ambers by the time the majority are cloudy

Love the bottom Picture,Its getting what we call gummy ,Looks like bubblegum.Put it in 48 hour of pure darkness,Perhaps Ice cubes around the base of the stem,to replicate frost to get a bit of color into the plant if you wanted,But i would just go dark then chop, cure after drying ready for christmas.

Educate me on this 2 days of dark. Please.[/QUOTEIm not sure how it works but it does,I first got the idea from YouTube of Ringo, then I heard Dj short, saying he also does it.it was Ringo that I got the ice cube thing from and it works for sure .It just seems to really finish them of ,it was in depth when they talked about it ,to do with terps ext and it does something to the heads that makes them swell or something ,I just tried finding it but couldn't I try again when I get time .

She will be ready I look for the leaves around the bud to slightly curl up as yours have done another indication that the harvest window is open...…..beautiful buds

I agree it looks like its about in the harvest window from the pictures. Personally I'd be letting it go another week or so to really let the buds swell. I've watched plants get heavier by the day and start to bend the branches the last 2 weeks of flower. I think that swell period is really one of the most improtant signals to look for, and yours seems to have started. The calyxs seem nice and fat, but I think they've got more to give you if you let them. The plant looks great though, nice and healthy congrats!
