Need a 3rd light??

Right now my set is 8sqft. 2x4x6. I have 3 plants scrog set up, and right now I'm using two 300 watt leds.
They recomend 15-18 inches during flowering, and that it will cover 1.5ft at that height. And technically that does equal out to 8sqft, just 6.
So I was wondering if it would be necessary to get another light, or if the 2 300 watts would be okay?

Well 600w of LED should cover far more than that, but they are not 300w lights so it depends on what exact lights they are and the draw at the wall. But yeah, you need more light if your trying to cover more space than recommended.
What lights are they and what do they cost?

They're vivosun 300 watt full spectrum led
About 80 each light.
Says 300 watt. Equivalent to 250 watt hps
And outlet draw is about 150

Ok I looked them up. They suggest 1.5ft x 1.5ft which is 2.25 square ft so two of them is good for 4.5 square foot and you have 8 square foot. So yeah your a fair bit short.
Another two of them and your ok but that's 160 ($ or £?) for $180 you can get a far better LED like a 135w quantum board.

135watt?
Why would I get a 135 watt light for 180 when I could get 2 more 300 watts for cheaper? And even say we based it off of actual draw from outlet that would still be double.

Part quality, quality of spectrum, intensity, efficiency, longevity, working under them (white light is much easier to work under) you also have to look at the amount of wattage that goes to the light itself, not just the fixture. If you have built in fans ect they take some of that power away.

You can go either way though, but there is a benefit to buying a higher quality light.

Quality in...quality out.

Also that 135w kit draws more like 150-152w light when turned all the way up. With a higher lumen/watt and higher ppfd.

And 1 less light to adjust.

Also the 135w kit you get 288 led diodes vs 60 with that vivosun. The 135w kit will last muchhhhh longer.

I don't think you understand...you don't have a 300w light that's just part of the name not actual power draw

That's exactly why I said even basing it off the actual draw. 2 would still equal out to almost double the actual wattage.
And by the sounds of it "wattage" doesnt even really matter that much.
Sofar I've had no issues, and great growth, so I don't think I'm gonna throw away my lights and spend 3x as much on some other lights

I wasn't telling you to trash lights, I was simply answering the why buying a single 135w kit is better than 2 more of those vivosun units.

So you say you have had great growth is this in comparison to other grows you have done? Or do you just consider it to be "great" without having any other experience?

Edit: also if your growth is so "great" why are you asking if you need more light? If your lights are doing so good your fine the fact that you started this thread means you should probably listen to the people that are answering you not try to act like you know more and your doing so great. If those plants are more than a month old I would call that terrible growth.

He clearly thinks he knows what he is doing he's probably just a blurple salesman. He doesn't understand the light you suggested has double the output per watt

I asked for an opinion, not because of any issues.
And you know what I think? You know everything. Every single thing that has to do with growing. Your just an absolute fucking god because you know so much.
Quit being a stuck up asshole and you might make some friends bud.
Lmao and terrible growth for anything over a month? Idk what what your growing, but it definitely isn't cannabis.
Knock your ego down a little bit.
Oh so your light had double output per watt, but mine states that it is equivalent to 300 watts and draws actual 150, but that's just impossible even though yours is capable of that right?
Man yall are just a bunch of knowitalls who throw a fit when someone doesnt agree with you, or wanna jump on the bandwagon. People come on here to get help, opinions, and to discuss growing. Not to get nagged at by some whine ass.
You're even a "well known member" lol
Well known for being a prick.

God your stupid you ask a question and the people who have the answers are "know it all's" I think your projecting... I'm a well known member because I've been building led for 5 years but I'm sure you know more than me...here's 7 weeks from clone plants could have been bigger but I vegged in a tiny space ...oh and yeah science is wrong you are right SMH if you ever learn you are going to feel pretty stupid about this. If your so smart buy the hlg light and a good par meter prove me wrong I'll be here waiting to say I told you so.

Lol and that's your attempt to win an argument? By manipulating what I said, and stating that I said things that were never said.
Never said I'm right, or know more than you.
The question I asked was if I need a 3rd light. That was it, nothing about quantum boards or other lights. Specifically, a 3rd light.
Wow man if that's any older than a month then that's horrible growth dude. 7 weeks??
Lol mine are 6 weeks from seed, topped, and under scrog. So reevaluate your comparison there bud. Oh and I vegged them for the first 3 weeks under 1 single light.
Lol.lol.looool.

Ok to answer that you need 2 more of those shitty lights your welcome.

Thank you. I'm sure I'll look more into other lighting systems in the near future, and I'll know who to talk to
The current lighting technology, in all catagories (Hid, Led, Plasma ect), are all quite interesting in a mechanical engineer sort of way. It's awesome that the cannabis community is contributing real world test data for future horticultural/agricultural techniques. In that round about way cannabis might end up being the reason we end world hunger; or like... grow tomatos on Mars.bongsmilie

(Pretty baked, don't mind me lol)

It's awesome, but frustrating at the same time, all of the lighting technology available. Trying to pick out good lights, while also getting the most our of your money will drive anyone insane lol.
I wouldn't really call myself experienced, so I'm still learning about everything else, and trying to learn the details about all of these different lighting systems gets pretty overwhelming haha.
I've got a couple "throw a seed in a pot and watch it grow" grows under my belt, but this last one and my current are the only that I've actually invested money and lots of research. Things are coming along nicely, but I'm struggling a little with space, and cant decide when to stop tucking my branches under because I'm not exactly sure how muxh more their going to stretch, ya know?
