Hello
I'm new to LED and purchased a small QB to try it out.
So far I am really impressed.
I was looking at your Mega 150W Grow Bar yesterday.
It says on your website that it is equivalent to a 400w HPS/HID/MH.
I read all the time here that 150W of LED is much less than a 400W equivalent and to be cautious if a website says 150w can replace 400w.
Can you please explain?
Thanks in advance.

the 50% point i was trying to make was for efficiency not cooling

.....it is a waste running them below 75w?
Yeap, if we can make the temperature of the fixture around 55 °C, it's totally ok to run a cxb 3590 with 2.8A or 3.2A at 36v, that's 100w or 115w. I attached the chart for your reference.
Normally the 100% rated power draw of cxb 3590 is 2.1A at 36V, that's around 75W, that's the most efficient point for it, even for samsung 301b, the most efficient point is 65mA which output the highest lumen/watt, that's only 0.2w, but most factories would run them at 0.5w each on the lamp fixture.

Thanks for your good question, and yes, strictly speaking, our 150w mege is one led grow bar, its footprint is around 4'x2', we say it can replace 400w HPS, that means it has the same ppf performance of one 400w hps bar light, but actually it's hard to find 400w hps light bar on market, so it's only for people's reference who may look for grow bar light.

I would think that it's impossible to find a "400w hps light bar" on the market.

They are not garbage.

I have one of thier lights and works great. I mentioned a few things that needed addressed while testing and they fixed it. Like upgraded the heat sinks.
They are straight fucking garbage. I gotta light from them it had a hollow fuckn driver in it. And 120v cobs. Dont tell me it's not junk. I sent the piece of shit back. They are a joke of company. They not only sent me a junk fucking light. They kept my money. So take your comment else where.

So your gonna get that light to set at 131° F inside. Damn near impossible to keep it that low in a tent. No way in the world you can get the TJ to be 131°F with those little PC fans. So there goes your efficiency right out the door. I bet TJ in hour on that light hits over 170°F especially with those junk ass glass lenses.

And 55°c at 36vdc with 2.3A roughly. Gonna be hard to do that.

Looks like to me your gonna be up in the 38v range. Or 37.5vdc at 3.2A

I got exactly what they said. It has 4 citizen cobs and meanwell driver. It's ran like a champ since I got it.

So I won't take my comment elsewhere.

Pics or it didn't happen right.

I mean if you paid via PayPal then you could've got your money back.

So we have one testimonial for quality and one for shit. I don't doubt either one. I do have a problem with their claims that their 150w fixture is equivalent to a 400w HPS "light bar". Smells like horseshit, to be honest.

Actually it's very possible, like in the future... when diodes + driver are outputting over 300 lm/watt. I'll be dead by then for sure, but it will be a really nice run! Hope I get a grow in with those before I go.

The key phrase being "in the future". Not now, which is when this company is making this claim. And I'd still like to see this 400w HPS "light bar".

Hey at least it's not as bad as all those Amazon blurple lights they say are 1000 HPS watts equivalent that draw only 158 watts from the wall! LOL

This is why I'll stick to my crazy dollar store and Walmart LED household LED bulbs, until new options truly break the the barrier I set for initial + running cost.
