Led quality

Heyy guys, I grew years ago with a 1000 watt metal halide/hps now I'm just growing a couple plants because it's legal for fun.. I currently am running the vipar spectra 300 reflector series than I looked online and saw the bud quality people were getting.. and I dont care about the amount of bud but for the love of God I want bud and not just leaves. Found this cob fixture online.. any input to run it with my vipar.

Honestly, unless you have an issue that prevents you from running HID that's what I would use. The Vipar you have is a 125wfixture and the cob fixture is 300w. A 400w HID would actually provide more light(it's more efficient than the diodes used in those fixtures) with less heat and be substantially less expensive.

That is straight garbage. 100% garbage. Those are the same as smartcobs. They put out like 16ppfd they are less efficient than hps. Hps 400 are 0.9 umole those cobs are under 0.50 umole. Migro did a test on them. Dont waste your money. If you want more heat in your grow just buy a heater. Bc that's all that is. The light is puts off, only about 30% of it can be used by the plant.

Ok, what about the hlg series lights, I hear good things about them on this site would the 100 series be a better option.
Now you are talking about great lights... HLG uses top bin, high efficiency diodes. The prebuilt fixtures are great, and if you are even a tiny bit handy with tools the diy kits they sell offer the chance for a top shelf light at a decent price. I own 3 HLG lights at the momemt and they are the best investment I've ever made in terms of growing.

It is a 4x2 but again I'm doing this for fun so both lights would be directly over 2 or 3 12 and 12 from seed style plants. When I get the second light I might run a side by side comparison with the vipar spectra. Same nutes conditions etc, that would be interesting.

I have a 2 and 1/2 by 4 space and I am running 3 300 watt vipers. Very happy with the results. I am pulling roughly a half pound dry , 7/8 ounces every 4 months. The trick is to keep the canopy flat, LEDs do not have the penetration so I keep them low and flat where they do not require any penetration. I don't give a f*** what anybody says these things grow!

I use a diy cob build. 16 cobs in a 40" x 40" area run at 600w produces 1 1/2 to 2 lb of trimmed bud. Not counting leaf. I toss it. I could run at 500 but I find 24" at 600 gives me less hot spots on the taller colas. But still gives me penetration 2' down from the tops. And I suck at growing.

I get a good 36" of penetration with my strips and get a pound from less than 300 true watts of LED's.

Do you think I could put 2 small plants looking for like 1.5 -2 oz per plant under one hlg 100 3000k. I'll keep the vipar spectra on a side angle to help with side coverage.
