Ya i hear you

I am still having to run my humdifier with lights on to keep RH up to 45-50%

if i shut it off the rh drops to like 25-30 in there, but the issue then obviously is the temps rising
At this point, I wouldn't run a humidifier. During the last part of flower the lower the better. They produce more frost to protect themselves supposedly. Also, if it is in the tent, there is not going to be the same humidity throughout, it'll be higher by the machine and the constant moisture near one specific plant or part of the tent could be bad.

So dropping to 30% rh would be fine?

I can keep temps around 81 at 31rh

I assumed we wanted to keep it above 40-45

Rh best around 45 50 anything above bad really budrot ect below 45 say 30 will slow bud production and the smell ov the bud can be affected from what I've noticed the sweet spot 45 50 late flower i try for 40 45 in last three weeks even 40

And I have read that getting it down into the 20% range if possible during the last 2-3 weeks has the same effect as splitting the stem and/or a dark period, and makes them produce extra because they think they are dying (which they are :) )

Fact - most rH meters have a +/- 5% error.
When you are talking about 40-45% possibly actually being 35% or 50%, I don't add water.

Do what you want, but I err on the side of caution, and IMHO a lot of those things that "make a big difference" only matter if you are growing for profit.

My drying cupboard.
I started with an old cedar wardrobe, and an AC Infinity cabinet fan for electronics. I added curtain-hangers that have the little clips already on them.
IMG_7270.JPG
Covered that with a cardboard box, and cut holes for some random carbon filters I had laying around.
IMG_7272.JPG
Since the climate inside is set for drying (cedar is a natural mold resistor) I added a drying rack/trim-bench with a 120 micron screen, then a rack underneath to put parchment paper on to catch goodies.
IMG_7278.JPG
But it can fold down in case I have huge limbs to hang.
IMG_7276.JPG IMG_7282.JPG
And there is room on the bottom for my bowl-trimmer, buckets for bubble-hash, etc.

nice drying spot, thats what im in the process of doing right now, figuring out where/how im gonna dry this run.

Are those 2 fans all you use for air circulation/exhaust? any intake holes allowing fresh air in?

how do you keep your rh in check like this? this is the issue i keep coming back to, will i need an exhaust of some sorts to keep rh sensible.

I never considered the drying aspect when i planned all of this, i was more focused on utilizing my space for growing lol. now im a couple weeks out and have no clue what im gonna do with my weed lol

The thing is mostly sealed, but it's not air tight. The drying weed raises the humidity, but the little fan takes that out. Almost no air circulation at all on low speed with it closed. It keeps a negative pressure, and if needed I can open a vent in the bottom. I also set the mini fan from the grow room in the bottom to move air around.

For you - if you can veg your other plants for a week or so longer, just use your tent. I hate seeing the people that do both though, drying it with the lights on in a tent while growing. Light degrades THC. WHYYY???? LOL But you already have a climate controlled environment. smell proof, etc. use it, just change the environment. Only enough airflow to keep it fresh, darkness, low humidity.

Yep, i agree, vegging an extra week and using the tent they are in right now seems like the logical thing to do lol

@diggs99 if you wash the flowers with a peroxide solution right after harvest, it's like using it on a cut. It will kill any "infection" there may be like mold or mildew, but it also acts as a preventative while it's drying. Doesn't last forever, but it get's you through that first few days with a little less worry. I posted the video on here somewhere.

As far as the closet, I figured I need to put as much effort into drying and curing as I do in growing it, or what's the effing point?

Ya exactly, i have spent ero time learning about drying and curing, it always seemed so far away, well its no so far anymore, i gotta figure out what im doing, so it can be done right.

Would really suck to get to harvest but screw it all up in the dry

Read about it, but the main points are that it should dry slowly but steadily, kept dark for the most part, and not jarred until the rh is close to perfect. When you jar it there is still moisture, but that last 5-10% of weight is deeper in the flowers and comes out slowly.

Vacuum curing has worked OK for me, with the mason jar attachment on a regular kitchen vacuum sealer. After it is dry enough to jar, some people vacuum it in the jar for the purpose of "quick-curing" if you want to google it. Some claim it shortens the time by half. I am not in a hurry, but for me it makes sense just because the "deep moisture" that needs to get out so it doesn't mold.

I use the process is to get it to the "safe to cure" point (when you feel comfortable not checking it for a week) faster, but after that I let it cure normally in a big C-vault with 62% packs.

I put it under vacuum, then burp it daily (or more often) like usual. But the first week it will be humid to the touch because it is doing it's job. I let it set out for about an hour and let the jar air out too, then put it back under vacuum.

Always smell for ammonia! any hint of anything but flowers or fresh-mown grass, let it dry out of the jar for a bit. After about 5-7 days it usually feels dry to the touch when you first roll it out. After that I don't bother with the vacuum stuff. Basically the same process without the vacuum, It just takes longer for the moisture to naturally transpire.

WARNING!!! Do not put a hygrometer under vacuum (or anything with a BATTERY!!!) :eyesmoke:
Luckily I was curious and checked before I did it with weed in the jar. There was no explosion or anything but the battery seal or whatever gave out and ruined an inkbird. Probably wouldn't have been good chemically for any flowers in there.

Diggs don't put paroxide on flowers man haf mold will set in if conditions are wrong no matter what I know anuff to not put nothing on the flowers man we flush for clean smoke don't add fuxxall bro and plants have natural defences against mold mildew some less tolerant then others perfect conditions is all u need and very clean meds good flush bro like three weeks harvest when pots been dry a day and always fully dry out in late flower like totally Ur be fine most mold is over watering in late flower
Peace

You are adding a minimal amount of 3% peroxide to water. Rain gets on buds outside and has worse shit in it.

Let's see - h2o + h2o2.
Hmmmmm You add oxygen!!! :oOMG!!!

Soooo. I didn't invent it. It works. If all you are going to do is trash what I say you can kindly leave @Blakey

I've watched pigeons420 wash all his weed on YouTube

He used lemon juice and baking soda

Same concept, he swears by it.

Many growers use this method. Not sure if I will or not, but it's def interesting

Unless your room is hermetically sealed, it gets dust in there at a minimum. Like I said, I'm not worried about it having mildew - but that *could* happen during the curing process. Especially if there is a "starter" spore or amoeba or whatever. I only agitate mine for about half a minute submerged enough to make sure it gets soaked, then drip-dry in front of a fan. Haven't seen any bubbles yet like from it killing something, but I treat it like a vaccination. I may not be doing any good, but I am doing no harm.

I would be hesitant about adding anything besides h2o2, unless it was to deal with a specific known problem.

One thing I had to do to get ready for the contest grow was to alter some 5 gallon round bags into rectangles. I figured an easier way to do it besides what is pictured, but the first thought was to cut out the center of the bottom, then notch the fabric so it wouldn't stay round but would still have the bulky seam at the bottom for strength. I ended up going a different route after playing with that idea - but it didn't go t waste. The cat loves when I do projects and have new crap laying around. This vivosun, fringed, 7gallon cat-house can be yours for the low, low price of...
