i am trying something new and trying to open up the canopy via defoliation to get more light to the bud sites. let me know what your thoughts are.

too much defoliation? too little?

my theory is if i open up the cannopy now it will grow those leaves. out while it's still fairly early in flowering. i am on day 10 since flip. i have 2 plants left

testing out a theory for bigger buds lmfao. from the video i am looking at which is by a known grower on youtube he did more then me and all those leaves you see the small ones grew out and he let it go. he stripped the entire plant as well it looks like

this is the vid idk if it will work thus why im experimenting and only trying it on 1-2 plants while leaving the 3rd as is


i think i fucked up and took off way too many so gonna do a 2nd plant but Way less pruning this time. the 2nd plant is bushier though compared to that one

i think the semi stripped one will be okay the stripped one prolly fucked. i stripped um once already in veg though and they just got super bushy. prolly my first and last time doing this though dont got high hopes. plus it's really hard to see his plants up close to see if he really took out all the fan leaves or left some.

Plant looks good. If I was still defoliating, I’d take more and it definitely does bulk up lower buds. I wouldn’t defoliate through the stretch much though when you switch to;12/12. I tried to do my final stripping a week before flip so they’d enter 12/12 strong

You left plenty of fans on there. I used to strip every single fan except top two sets..maybe just top set and only keep one of the fans from the set below. I’d also cut off lower shoots on all branches at same time. They’d be much more bare than yours. You’d be surprised how they bounce back.

yea im watching this video and it looks like what you explain

he keeps 2 sets of fan leaves ontop and then maybe 2 at the bottom the rest get chucked. im only in week 2 since flip i literally got 4 more days of week 2 so i think they should be OKAY.. hopefully.. at this point im just like fuck it i already fucked 1 plant over i might as well do the rest and see what i get out of it as a result. i didn't train so pretty much this is like my last resort to get as much light into the canopy i kinda already know what to expect if i leave the plants as is so im not super worried. if they end up dying or getting shit yields then thats just something imma have to deal with when time comes around.

you should be ok. Looks like you’re fertilizing and watering is on point. WIth you being in flower a few weeks almost it was a good move to leave some extra fans. When you don’t have any but the top couple, things can get ugly fast once you notice there’s a problem. Atleast, I’ve encountered that. So you stripped all of them then?

they look really good to me. I bet you end up much happier at the end than you think. Them lower buds will be of better quality than if you didn’t. That’s without question. Not sure why there is still even a debate about whether or not direct light on buds increases yield. It does. I’ve watched it with my own eyes over and over. Nowadays i don’t take but a few lower sets and shoots. Had an issue that almost killed my girls..my fault with feeding and out of paranoia I started keeping more fan leaves on there for insurance

i really hope they bounce back lmfao the inside felt really humid though guess cause all the foliage trapping it in. now they can breath. next time imma try this out maybe but before i even flip. tihs is my 2nd prune
