i Just transitioned the lights to 12-12 and my plants are still very young compared to most other people I feel like at this point, I’m kinda on a time crunch to get them moving which I don’t like but I gotta do what I gotta do, any advice would’ve appreciated

I tried topping one plant also 4 days ago

It’s a young plant, but some here go 12/12 from seed.

Once it’s mature enough it will start to flower, though it probably is more beneficial for it to be on 18-6 until it has somewhat matured, though what you’re doing won’t hurt.

this is spot on. Being such a young plant it will probably still take a few weeks before it actually starts flowering. Once it is genetically mature enough it will start. Switching the lights can give the plant the signal you want it to flower, but until it's capable of producing enough of the correct hormones it just won't happen. So this might rush things along your "timeline" but I kinda think your plant is pretty young and it might be on it's own timeline.

What kind if timeline are you on? Really it's a bad idea to start a grow out in a rush. You can't rush these plants, they won't start or finish until the are ready and how long that takes depends heavily on your grow environment, and the plant genetics.

I am trying to get a harvest by May 20th and I wish I could let it veg for atleast 60 days but I just am gonna have to see what happens by mid May since I won’t be able to care for the plants, and this is my first grow so my setup and nutes are pretty bad compared to most people’s grow. What is your shortest veg time for an indoor grow?

I’m using plant food for palm trees, it’s an organic 4-2-4 with, feather and bone meal, sulfate of potash, poultry manure.
Also I’m using miracle grow potting mix, really basic supplies for cheap but Im assuming I shouldn’t expect a great yield

Man harvesting by May 20th is gonna be tight, good luck. I would probably just leave them on 12/12 at this point and ride it out and hope your genetics and phenotype dosnt take long to mature.

Your really crunching flowering time for a May 20th finish, most likely they will finish in the first couple weeks in June. What strain?

I’m not sure, they are bag seed but the bud was sativa dominate

You are looking at 10 plus weeks for sativa dominant strains.

Well shit dude how definite is your time frame because you much as well stop now if you have to harvest on that day. You won't have much yield or quality cutting that plant on that day if it ends up being even slightly sativa dom.

Yea that’s true but ima still let it ride out, worst case I just throw them in the woods and continue watering after may 15th but no point in wasting a trial if I can still test different nutrients and stressors for my next grow

And that week in middle May is pretty definite for my indoor grow

Why don't you go back to 18/6 then in a few weeks put them outside and let mother nature take over?

I could try that, I’m hesitant about the weather where I’m from during the summer time, humidity is 70+ and temperatures remain in high 80’s

I also haven’t done very much research for outdoor grows related to high temperatures

Plants outdoors can withstand those conditions. If you keep them watered properly and feed them right they will thrive. You might have to put them in the ground because they will need a lot of soil.

This is an awesome idea if you have someplace to put them outside!! If you vegged and trained the plant with topping and LST, you could put an awesome bush outside in May and have a badass plant this summer. Those temps aren't high for outdoors. I'm not sure what latitude your at or when it gets cold but that would be my biggest concern. People grow in the desert and in the rainforest, it will effect your plant care but doesn't make it impossible. However growing a sativa dom plant outdoors in Michigan would be just as hard as getting one to finish indoors by May 20th.

I wish I had a place outside, I could grow monsters. Right now I have some kush / haze in my tent 11 day old sprouts if I got those outdoors next month I would be very happy.
