Identifying male and female plants

Just trying to think bigger. If that’s really the case would you be to possibly identify a seed as male, female, hermie? Or even once it breaks the seed shell in seedling stage?

Not yet. Maybe in the future, who knows.

I know they're able to test genetic profiles on extremely young plants. Don't think they can test the gender yet though.

Several years ago, there was a viral video going around suggesting you could determine sex of the seed. Supposedly females had a dimple on the side of them.
The claim has been proven false.

Actually I was just reading of a test that you can do to determine sex of a plant before pre flowering.

Really wouldn't surprise me. It's probably the same test or very similar.

From memory it was from a tissue sample. It was a means for them to select plants with the genetic traits they liked.

Yeah that's the one. I didn't realize they could test the gender on the seedlings too.

They linked specific genes to particular cannabinoids, terpines, resistances, even less desirable traits.

Pretty cool really, it'd make selective breeding pretty damn fast. The amount of space saved too...

So I stand corrected, it must be predetermined at seed level if you can test that early.

Well hopefully they continue to do well. I used to take professional photos for my buddy put in California of his plants well. Excited to use my DSLR to get some great photos.

Looking better than mine, had to go with cheap soil and been battling ph issues and should have added perlite for better drainage but I think of it as a challenge.

Thanks, if you look closely I lost a lot of big fan leaves and brown edges and spots. Been really careful with watering and ph is adjusting slowly.

i see it in the back bottom, looks like it was low on N. they are healthy now though. best of luck.

I use distilled water and my pH has stayed between 6.5-6.9
