I made a small roast in the pressure cooker last night. I used the pressure cooker because the roast was still frozen and it only takes about an hour in the pressure cooker. After the roast was done I added some potatoes, carrots, onion, and green pepper from the garden and let it go another ten minutes.

Everything came from the garden except a little grilled chicken for the salad. Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, radish, carrot, onion, beans, corn, and squash. Nine things from the garden.

It's easy to see you eat well.... and I really like the dish ware. I think I'm about to invest in a new cookware set... it's not super expensive, but I haven't purchased a matching set in over 22 years, so it's about time.

Some people eat to live. I live to eat. As for the dishware It's melamine and I like the pattern as well. I scrounged virtually every Asian market in Portland and bought every different piece I could find. My lady said I was obsessed. She might have been right. I don't even want to think about what I spent. I have a full set of plates, bowls, condiment dishes etc... in the kitchen cupboard and I still have all this stored in the garage. Platters, serving bowls, spoons, scoops, more bowls. It kind of got out of hand.

We just got a new shed a couple three weeks ago. Lots of what I'm carrying out there is dish sets. I went through an apple phase, and have complete sets of at least three kinds of apple dishes, and lots of partials. I'm all for taking them back to the thrift stores, but the wife said to hang on them for now.

I also found my set of double walled tea cups. The set was a graduation gift 40 years ago. I remember one of them getting cracked. Not too bad.

{goggle image, same cups}

Nice, I would definitely like to a set like that. I really like the color and print. I have a older set that is all white with a some designs, and the wife picked up a second hand set that is a nice autumn color but design. However we do have a full set of China that her dad got in Japan after WWII, it's packed away for safe keeping.

Ohh I cooked some chicken and dumplings today, their not very picturesque but damn they sure are good. I've been trying to figure it out for over thirty years and thanks to yt I've finally gotten to the point that they're good.

Man, you guys are killing me with the pics of the food! Every single year, I say I am going to plant a garden again. PLEASE hold me to that, come next spring.... Lol

Much respect for both of you (you too Bareback). I have enjoyed reading the guerilla grows of Larry, his brother Larry, and his other brother..... Lol. I got so entrenched in one of their stories, and then he just disappeared! Damn!!!

I can seriously appreciate the melamine collection. I used to collect antique kitchen glassware. Jadeite, Delphite and such. So, I totally understand what it's like to build something up, like what you have; a piece at a time. You have a VERY impressive collection. Now, I collect this stuff. It's a pic of just a few pieces. This is my "fine china" now. Lol....

GO BLAZERS! RIP CITY!!!

(Sorry Larry, you may not understand. It's like a cult following around here in Oregon. If you're in, you are IN!)

After a FSU kicker went to the Raiders, I have been a fan of theirs for years. Don't really watch footmanball anymore. But looks like after this past draft, I'm going to be a Clippers fan. Two Noles went to a loaded team.

Lol. And that is good. WAY better than them going to a L*ker team.... (Most Blazer fans flat out dispise them). I really think it's gonna be a crazy season in the NBA this year. Should be fun to watch. BTW- my girlfriend out here is from Florida. The Villages and Boca Raton. We hope to get back that way soon. Maybe this winter. Her parents come out to visit during the summer. Pretty cool. Good people.

I remember going downtown with my father to watch the parade after the Blazers won the Championship in 1977.

A few days back I picked a bunch of bell peppers. The wife's friend loves her unstuffed peppers, so she made a batch for her today. We did this small one for us with some jalapenos added to the mix.

This is a double batch. Cut in half for normal size. She used mostly cheddar, but added an Italian blend for some contrast.

The recipe says 4 cups rice or you can use cabbage instead. How about both?

That's making me hungry and it's dinner time. Now I have to go see what I can scrounge up. I didn't make plans for dinner but you've just given me an idea.

We've never tried cabbage. I bet you could google the recipe, and there will be tons of comments. Someone will have tried it.

Tonight we split a New York steak. Everything else on the plate was from the garden. Green beans, Yukon Gold potatoes, and a tomato, cucumber basil salad dressed with a vinaigrette made from white wine balsamic and red wine vinegar, garlic, and olive oil. Unfortunately I got distracted and hammered the steak. It was just under well done. Pure blasphemy.

That looks good. My wife has to have her steaks well done. I like medium rare myself. Don't do much beef though.
