Why does this smell like ammonia?

It's certainly possible that a GA clone could sprout a male flower or two and pollinate itself. It actually happened to me a few years back, same with pre 98 bubba, which is also known as a clone-only strain
 
my master kush smells like cat piss so much so that i look everyday to see if the cat pissed in the grow room :eyesmoke:

Yea it does happen, but once a plant self breeds it has a higher chance of being hermie. thats one of the reasons there were so many hermies in the early 90's, breeders were "selfing" plants by forcing them to herm and pollinate themselves.

if inbreeding is bad, then how bad is selfing? the degradation of the genetics causes mutations, and does not preserve the strain.

^ Truth. i had MK for one harvest... i have 2 cats... i was very suspicious and wondering how they could possibly get into the room.... some strains are just weird..
 
Of all the strains I've grown it's the White Widow that smelled like cat piss during Veg. I don't have any cats.
 
mold...if your cannabis has mold on it but then dries out for whatever reason it will smell like ammonia really really strong...so something to think about...
 
I had the same thing happen with some "Grape" strain out here. It smelled like sulfur and tasted like grapes. F'en no pride in their work.
 
my nephew pulled out a couple of nice buds which smelled like and tasted like onions, like an onion and meatball pizza or something, i shit you not. there was 4 of us and we all said the same thing as soon as he fired up a bowl. said it was purp...i don't know what it was but it really wasn't pleasant :eyesmoke:
 
you got that right 'neer, was a nice heady high tho, idk i think i will stick to my exodus cheese and brasil and master kush, which is almost done :eyesmoke:

OMFG man.... i know what thats like....

My brother made 10g's of Bubble hash like a month ago. it was awsome stuff, UNTILL he stored it in a Honey Garlic container... the hash smelled like Garlic and tasted like ass.

Unpleasant is an understatement..
 
Its just well cured bud that wasn't stored at the right temperature, generally the bud that has that smell is like 6months old. There is no ammonia smell that is mold, they just sometimes end up on the same nug. I don't mind it. Super cured and unless you have it at the right temperature it still continues its decomposition process but slower then in natural air. I like the latent effects I get from a lot of weed with that smell. Its like it takes an extra few moments to really know how high I am. It might have been picked a day past its decent into a mature seed and then dead bud. Sometimes on GDP it gives a nice sweet wine smell and flavor profile. Unless the curer freezes the bud after their desired cure it will not stay in the day what ever of the cure zone. Check for mold and then took... Some pesticides give the smell off as well. So if you don't know the grower and that they are 100% organic I would not smoke it.
 
I once grew northern lights #5 crossed with a blueberry strain and it smelled like cat piss after the cure. not an inkling of that smell at all during the grow. this was back in the early 90's, I had never heard of "cat piss weed". grew it several more times after and it was always the same, I was well known as "the guy with the cat piss weed". some of the best I've ever grown, wish I had some more.
