Introducing... the Devil's Advocate:

man. i'm sorry to say that i don't like this idea at all.

you are giving up the maximum security that growing in your own home provides. laws are not designed to protect someone renting an office/warehouse space. of course, change the locks. but if anyone even catches a whif, the police can ask the OWNER if it's alright to search the premises. you have no say. they will cut your locks without a pause.

and for what? to get up to (3) 1000w HPS units? i used that and more in a tiny 1 bedroom mobile home. this amount of electrical use does not gather unwanted attention. and you are paying rent on top of this... when you could just grow where you already live. you are kicking out some 5000 dollars a year just in rent.

now, if you were wanting to 'Go Big', Hit It and Quit It, and set up a 10+ HPS system, then a factory grow might be warranted. But you are only increasing your costs and your risks... for what can be accomplished in the privacy and security of your own home.

Good to see things moving along.

Couple questions:
What's with the overhang of the box over the subframe?
Where did you get the bright white sound-deadening material and what is it exactly?

Kinda surprised you didn't go bigger with your room, but you could always expand if you wanted to, right?

Aloha,

yeah this grow is going to get bigger. i pretty much ran outta money so going to grow up on the loft for a harvest or two... then i am going to upgrade to a stadium grow with 3-4 hps systems.

DaGambler. other reasons for not growing at home.... i have a family and i have other family that come to visit.... really do i want them to walk in and see my basement glowing like the sun... thanks for your input but this is just the start of what i hope to become a large scale setup. I'm renting the shop for $285 per month.... $3500 in rent... um... i can get that in a harvest or two from this small box.

by renting a shop ... do i put my house up for takes? no... do i leave my family on the street? no...

thanks but i have thought things thru and if you'd read thru you would see that.

the sound deadening is from walmart... just those $15 mattress tops. even tho it did take 6-7 of them to cover the whole thing. = not as cheap as i thought...

the future flower room is going to be 7.5' wide x 14' long x 8' high going to be a stadium setup.

then this box becomes a veg/mother/clone box.

the over hang is just so i can i have my intake and store things to the right of the box..

i didn't build the loft... that was put in by someone else when i moved in but i just added the support underneath since before it was all hanging by that chain.

grown in a warehouse with a fake front business of sorts. did auto repair but never had a sign or hours of operation so if the firemen or anyone else showed up we just dont answer the door

"DaGambler. other reasons for not growing at home.... i have a family and i have other family that come to visit.... really do i want them to walk in and see my basement glowing like the sun..."

understandable. i forget that not everyone just has dogs to worry about.

tru enuf.

"by renting a shop ... do i put my house up for takes? no... do i leave my family on the street? no..."

very good points.

"thanks but i have thought things thru and if you'd read thru you would see that."

i see that now.

"the future flower room is going to be 7.5' wide x 14' long x 8' high going to be a stadium setup."

i used a similar size space on my last grow... i found that HPS1000 - MH1000 - HPS1000 worked very well to fill the area with plenty of light. Though 3 HPS would also work well.

"then this box becomes a veg/mother/clone box."

it may or may not be suitable. for that 3 light setup i had i found that about (9) 2 bulb 4' flourescent fixtures were needed for the clone/vedge chamber. can't tell from the pics if your box would support, say, 3 shelves with 3 fixtures each and an overhead for each shelf of about 2 1/2 ft.

how it went i might rent a shop and work on things in it and was going to put up a partition and set it up as a grow room in the very back of the shop. shop is 25'x50'.i've grown before so all the basics will be taken car

yeah i've seen the full vertical grows.. i don't think i'm ready to be trying that yet though.

dagambler thanks for the info. did you run it both ways? 3 hps and 2 hps/1mh?? and also is 3 lights enough for that space? or should i maybe run 6 600's?

seeds are poppin today

thats all that opp requires is 6 x 600 or even 6 x 400 or you could use a smaller stand and run 4 x . that thing is only taking up about 40 sq ft the way it is there so you are working on some pretty small foot print

naw i just had the 2 HPS and the 1 MH. in a 7' by 14' area (3) 1000 HPS is deffinitely enough lumens... do the math and i'm sure its 42 per sq. ft or higher. there is a falling off after that of usefullness unless you are letting the temps go to 90 degrees and using supllemental co2. i'd stick with the 1000's... i would guess they are also a bit more cost effective in lumens/per watt. but... you'd be using more watts and get slightly better coverage with the (6) 600w HPS... it probably boils down to initial cost being higher for the more lights (you purchase) you use. also, if it's ever going to get any bigger, you'll want to stick to 1000w HPS.
