Evidently it's an epidemic caused by a breakdown in the Criminal Justice system. This is what the candidates are referring to when they say we need reform. It's obviously real bad in Florida and it's costing tax payers.

If anything else failed as often as jail does, we'd shitcan it as a hopeless failure and start over from scratch.

Yet somehow our 'correctional' system is exempt from this.

Why? Are Americans REALLY this stupid? (Okay, I know I'm in the Florida Man thread, but we're not ALL raping gators!)

TAMPA, FLA. (AP) — Authorities in Florida are searching for a missing man who they say believes he's God and has been saying he wants to heal and kill people.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on Monday issued a missing persons alert for 33-year-old Ariel Rodriguez after he left his family's Tampa home. He hasn't been heard from since.

America used to have an asylum system to take care of people like this. Now we just dump them in prisons.

Our country has really hit the skids.

With Thorazine? It destroys a person's abilities to comprehend. It can easily be seen it's a violation of human rights.
I studied Sociology and they gave the students a tour of a Mental Health Institution. Really bad place. It's like Tomy Chong said "it's not so bad they give you cellmates to chat with" (in the joint).

It seems many Floridians lack that capability already, as far as consequences for their actions anyway.

So does Schizophrenia. We tend to use Haldol these days.

I'm actually on psych meds, so you don't have to tell me how deleterious they are to the normal state.
On the other hand, I am pretty stable from day to day now, and I can count on it to knock me the fuck out for a few hours of sleep each night.
It robs a few hours of each day, but overall it is in everybody's best interest I think.
