Living soil mix - green algae and....? Is this normal?

Hey guys

Just put together my first living soil mix with following items below:

I've been starting to see some green algae and looks like a small leaf sprouted out of the soil too.

Is this normal? healthy? good?

any information and advise would be great! thanks!

promix hp w/ mycorrhizae
worm castings
sea compost
perlite
vermiculite
mycorrhizae

Whats your humidity and watering looking like?

It'll be interesting to see how that soil works for you. Any plan to add anything else later? On the green stuff, I don't know if it's algae, but if other plant life forms on that soil then it must be really good soil. If it bothers you, you can always peel it off. I suspect it's because the soil tends to be too wet. Maybe let it dry out some. Hard to say without testing it concerning exactly what it is.

Im guessing hes got major humidity problems. Need a lot of moisture to grow mold.

I'm not sure I've never seen algae. When I'm cooking my soil it's normal to see white fungus, that's the mycorrhiza at work. But never seen green algae.

The sprout is likely from your soil being left outside and a seed flew in it.

55-60% temp is about 25-28C

Yup, i am planning on doing some topping, but probaly in flowering stage

What are your plants looking like?

Ditch the vermiculite next time, it holds way too much water, it keeps your soil too moist and you'll get moss like growth on soil surface
