Where to mount driver

Kind of trying to get my setup planned out and wondering where does everyone put their driver for a qb led setup? Is it ok to mount to back of the heatsink?

Personally I wouldn't mount the driver to the heat sink as that would only add more heat.
That’s kinda what I was thinking! I’m worried the cord won’t be long enough to mount anywhere. Guess I might have to get creative.

I run mine connected to the heat sink unlike Renfro says, but I have troubles keeping my tent warm as it is.
At first I ran it outside of the tent and the set up was nicer, if that makes sense. But after a couple days I needed that few extra degrees.

I can see putting the driver in the tent for heat if needed but not on the heat sink as that will add heat to the heat sink and therefore decrease the efficiency of the diodes that it's supposed to cool.

In the South so heat is something I’m trying to keep away. I’m thinking the cord will be long enough for me to outside of tent by the outlet. I’ll know on Monday when it gets here

I haven’t ever heard of this man. Makes perfect sense if I think about it though.
What exactly do you mean by efficiently? Like it uses more power to run the same lights kinda? Sorry electrical stuff has always gonna a little over my head and I’m trying to get a grasp on it.
I have one of those alibaba meijiu boards. Is having the driver mounted to it bad? I can easily mount it elsewhere in the tent..

I got the CrxSunny 240w qb w/ the Samsung diodes and the mw driver.
Just from reading some quick reviews it seems that it’s long enough. One guy said it heated up his tent too much but he now has the driver outside the tent on a table? I think you’ll be good. You could always extend it too with some extra wiring.
Nice looking light btw!!

Nice thanks! The wall is right outside the tent, I have a place I can mount directly to. Excited to see how it works.

Its hard to see it all but I bought a steel plate drilled big holes into it and a slit above them to be able to slip it over nails on the wall and just pull it down to mount it and drilled holes to mount a couple drivers on.

I kinda like it I think I'm going to do the same for my other driver.

Really depends on your needs.
If you need the heat, mount it internally. If heat is an issue(like it is for me), mount it externally.
My QB clone runs @ 2800mA so I just used a 10' length of 16ga lamp cord.

When creating an extension for your LED to driver connection, you can use wire with a heavier gauge (smaller number) but don't use wire with a lighter gauge as it may not be up to the ampacity it will be asked to carry. If the extension is long then definitely up size the gauge (smaller number) to reduce voltage drop. Feel free to run any decisions past us before making purchases or modifications.
