OK, so here is the story. I've decided to try and grow autos for the first time, got some seeds and got them in the dirt. I've putted one GHS Auto bomb, (shortly AB) and one Blueberry x somango(BB) which was a free seed, breed:unknown. Anyway, on the third day the AB broke the surface and on the next day the BB followed. Since the day they poped out i keep them under 2x55 CFLs 6500K 4500 Lumens 24/0. First two - three waterings i used only still water, nothing extreme, just on one of the waterings ive mixed the water with some mycorrhizal fungi. After the ladies came out i immediately realized my first mistake, and that was the autos should be grown in their final pot coz they dont need to be stressed considering their short life. Anyway on day four for the AB (day 3 for the BB) ive decided to put them in their final pots. Got them in Canna terra soil mix with some additional perlite added. I've also putted some more fungs and my special rusty piece of metal shit in the pots. AB is in 15L and bb in 12L. I've watered with about 3 liters of water each plant,also added Miracle grow 7-3-5 half strenght fertilizer(my GHE 3 step ferts are still somewhere, waiting on amazon).

Day 8 for the AB, 7 for the BB(first two pics BB next two AB than BB and AB again). I gave the ladies one more hit, half strenght of the mira grow, about 1.5 liters each plant( the soil contains ferts as well, 12-14-24 to be exact). They seems to be going fuking mental! Three days ago ive started to bring the girls outside to catch some sun and they seems to love it. Im planing to keep them 24/0 till they show preflowers and then to bring them outside to finish them off. Today i also sprayed them with some biobizz alg-a-mic vitality stimulator, before i get them inside again( dont worry, ive waited them to suck it off before putting them under the lights again ;) ). Theres also a 12 inch fan constantly blowing on them.

quick update: 1st pic BB 10 days old, sec pic AB 11 days old, third AB, 4th BB. There's branches starting to form, more visible on the Blueberry. 24/0 cfl + mother nature sunlight combo. ive adjusted the lights to about 30-40mm distance from the tops, 12 inch fan constantly blowing on them. no watering from about 2 days, just spraying the leafs with 2ml/l alg-a-mic biiobizz vitality stimulator in the morning when i get the ladies out in the garden and before i throw them back under the fluros. so far so good, except I've noticed some fukin gnats, so I'm going on a war with them :D I'm open to suggestions about the extermination of the gnats, currently checking for some methods, most probably ill try some bacteria treatment

Update, day 16 Auto bomb, day 15 Blueberry x somango:
as i said, if anyone is following the journal, the AB had a damage caused by the lamp falling on the top of it so the top had to be removed at the sec node. the plant responded well however, the new growth started to kick in, maybe the plant was stunned for a day at max. the BB is going wild, 4 sets of branches, very compact, basically i love it.started to feed GHE 3 steps on the AB yesterday, ill probably give the BB the same cocktail tomorrow, if the soil is dry enough. First 3 pics BB, next 3 AB, the leaves on the AB are greener than green, very fat, love them. cant wait to feed the BB tomorrow, or the day after. light cycle is slightly changed, since yesterday, the ladies had their first night, switched to 18/6, still bringing them to catch some nice tan outside, when the weather is suitable. if anyone needs to know anything more, feel free to ask. cheers

Once mine are a tiny bit bigger, I introduce a big oscillating fan. I like to keep the fan blowing straight at them, so between a good dry cycle and the constant wind storm, the gnats have a very hard time multiplying. They pop up from time to time, but the fan makes it way too hard for them to find each other and mingle lol This also makes for SUPER thick stalks. I'd rather live on the edge of windburn and end up with tree trunks than put chemicals in my soil. Not that I wouldn't if I had too. Which to answer your question, I personally would use neem oil when I water and/or a layer of sand over the top of the soil.

Back when I was a mechanic I had numerous old men come every spring and get the metal shavings off brake rotors. They said they mixed it up in the soil for tomatoes, and as it rusted it helped oxygenate the soil. I've never tried it, but your rusty metal addition reminded me. I might have to get some shavings off my bandsaw and give it a try on my tomatoes.

For the gnats, SF nematodes and diatomaceious worked ok for me temporarily but had to be reapplied and never really wiped them out. With those and yellow sticky traps, I was able to keep them under control but keep them. Since then, I started topdressing my containers with a layer of Colorado Worm Company vermicompost mixed with a little biochar, cocoa hulls, cricket frass, and black soldier fly frass just under the mulch layer and spraying KNF foliar spray once every week or two until flowering and I've only seen a single gnat here and there that I can't find later and the sticky traps are empty. That vermicompost is a little pricey, but it comes full of hypoapsis miles and springtails. If you're lucky, you'll get a few bore beetles in there too. I've had it come with and without those, but they're definitely a welcome addition.
