Quick update with the shitty $30 smartphone camera... Sorry (again)
Everythings doing fine, although I'm experiencing the same as some others being about 2-3 weeks behind last years outdoor run, My earliest possible harvest will be at least mid oct. but looking like it will run later.
I threw in a couple pictures of my stunted "R19" random bag seed... its in a 3 year old hugelkulture bed that hasnt been fed in years, and was a plant that I threw outside early march almost trying to kill it, it reveged and was stunted, but has survived... Its got some beautiful tiny little purple nugs on there, and the whole plant smells like your sniffing a bottle of fresh ground pepper... Never really was a big fan of the peppery smell but this is looking better and better.. Wish I had taken better care of her, and knew the genetics behind her... Oh well, will be a nice little plant. For the rest, most are doing well... They're behind as stated... Im really worried Im not getting enough sun, Im definitely changing locations next year because there have been too many changes in the neighborhood. I had 3 branches of the smaller white widow and OG kush break, they were not the main colas but 2nd, 3rd biggest ones on each plant... They're very early, but drying now and will be a nice little pre harvest taste and smell test...Plus it gives me a chance to finish dialing in my drying room these next week or two and get that all squared away.
@dsmer and the other guys who I was talking about root zone temps and overnight heating solutions... I just wanted to throw this in here for you guys, I took a pic this morning about 7am, and it was probably the coldest night here since spring...
I use these cooking meat thermometers and jam them into my fabric pots, it helps me get an idea of the root zone temps mainly during the mid days in summer to make sure they're not cooking in the black pots, But they were fine all year.. But from last nights cold, I went out this morning and checked the thermometers... They are only 4 inch long probes, so they really dont go inside the pot very far... which I would assume would mean it'd be colder since its closer to the edge of the pot/exposed to fabric pot walls... The temps were 60-65° and the outside air temp was a lot colder this am, I forgot to check what it was exactly but definitely not 60°-65°

I believe the 100gal pots retaining heat from the daytime as well as any compost/decomposition or any sort of heat generated kept this warm throughout the night, I would assume that plants in the ground would retain heat better and you may even get some sort of geothermal heating effect going (probably not deep enough, but sure it helps to retain heat better than my pots even if it doesnt get geothermal heat)I just thought it was interesting the temperature difference even on the coldest night of the year which granted wasnt that cold compared to what some of you gals and guys are dealing with.. But still... Hopefully it will help ease some of the stress and worry on your minds, These plants are hearty SOBs.
