Inexperienced and looking for direction.

I have one plant that was transplanted mid August. (Empty spot in the garden and a friend with an extra clone) I don’t think it’s finished yet but the weather is changing. Tonight for example is frost, (plant is covered currently) 7 day forecast says 50’s and rainy, does this pose any risk?

a plant should be able to stand a light frost. you can do a few simple things to help it out.
1. put some mulch over the ground at the warmest part of the day
2. build a clear pollythene cover for it like a mini green house
that may well see you through the cold smap

Didn’t consider a mini greenhouse, thanks! The frost factor is now past, What about the rain and cooler temps for 4-5 days consecutively?

yeah, best try and put a pollythene covour over it. a mini greenhouse if you csn get one. problem is water gets into the budz and causes it to get rot.

Dumb question, but have you been scoping the plant? That looks pretty close to done depending on how far you want to take it.

I have scoped it, most cloudy imo, wish I had the means to share a trick photo. My hesitation comes from the small patches of fleshy pistils below the mains. However I’m concerned the incoming weather poses risk. With it being my first outdoor plant I’m unsure what to hold and when to fold.

the top of the plant matures faster then the rest, so you will find that you can harvest the top colas that are riipe as and when they mature. you then give the lower buds time to finish off

Cool temps and intermittent rain for a week starts today, I made my own mini hoop house, hoping to allow the plant to get another week or so before chop. Will this work? I built it late last night and deployed it this morning and it seems to fit and protect quite well.

I've only experienced frost on a plant once and it ruined the main leafs, I'd put it out in the spring sun and got home late at night and leafs had a thin coating of frost.
But I've also seen a plant with snow on the ground it appeared fine and healthy?

I think your shelter is ideal, it'll keep frost and rain out and likely have some effect on the temperature as well, maybe?

Thanks for the input star dog, I’m hopeful it serves its intended purpose, I was thinking I could close off the ends with additional plastic pieces for heat retention but I haven’t due to the thought of not providing enough air flow. Most days are just going to be short periods of rain, I’m optimistic that it won’t rain hard enough to get the buds wet.

Should work good man. Mild frost won’t phase em too much as long as it evaporates in the morning sun.

Looking for input regarding the weather outlook and harvest. Going to pull the cover tomorrow morning, slight chance of rain the next 2 days but I’ve got heat/sun for the first time since Saturday. I’m guessing it’s worth the risk?

I want to allow the plant to see its full potential, do I stand a chance to lose it? Frankly this is why I’m interested in RIU input, I’ve never made it this far before. It’s been a few days since I’ve taken a close look at what I understand the be signs of maturity.

I’ll look it over tomorrow, after pulling the cover. Fingers crossed It looks comparable or slightly better then my last inspection.

Yeah the weather looks fine to me man. I get that kind of weather in mid to late September and leave mine out well into the second week of October. I’m in Canada at 46N.

It’s up to you l. If you have good airflow it shouldn’t be an issue under the cover. Either way I was just saying the weather forecast doesn’t look like you need to chop imminently even without the cover IMO.
