If this is your first grow, I would focus on making it to harvest successfully. Once you get your first grow under your belt, hopefully you’ll know what to expect on the next run and start to experiment with training techniques.

Agree with @Dontjudgeme. Get the first one under your belt and you’ll know the plant and strain and how it reacts to different training. I was nervous my first time around messing with it at all but it gets easier. Attached pics of same plant (cloned) untrained vs trained at roughly the same age.

That all being said, it looks old enough to top and I would recommend doing that. Also looks like it’s time to move to a new bigger pot, but don’t do both at the same time it will stress it out too much.

You’re doing great though, plant looks really healthy!

You can top it after it has 6 nodes, keep it simple, nothing wrong with a topping, cut it back to the 3rd node once it has 6 and it will bush out nicely. Looks like the 5th or 6th node is starting. Depending on what you are trying to do, you can gently tie branches back to open the plant up, I wouldn’t recommend doing too much, like mentioned, focus on keeping it happy, these plants are pretty forgiving.

I never train when they are that small.

Alot of the time you end up making a mess with leaves falling in the soil.

Not worth it imo.

Been topping and up potting at about 14 to 17 days in veg and go another 10 days or more and then to flower tent, serious training at first pistils and they get their final up pot for flower. I grow numbers of small plants perpetually.
