Jacks 321 in RDWC system problems..........

So..... I've been struggling (for about a year) with trying to find to correct recipe for jacks 321 system in my rdwc. I'm always running into leave burn or deficiencys. Usually when I switch to 12 12 all my problems start to show and the leaves get hard and brittle. I've tried 3.6, 2.4,1.2 but now I'm on 3,2,1.1 which is fine for veg but not flower. I constantly monitor my ph in the range of 5.8 to 6.0. Chiller is set to 66°F. The only other thing i use is orca or tribus. When i contact jacks they tell me stick to the full strength 3.6,2.4,1.2 (which is tooo hot i believe). My EC is 1.8 when i mix 3,2,1.1 but after a few days of the plants lowering the water level the EC rises to 2.0 (then i switch out the nutes). I've played with the ratios so the EC doesn't rise but then i get massive deficiencies. I have a veg tent and flower tent. The flower tent is on day 54 since i flipped to 1212 but the leaves started to look this way a few weeks inView attachment 4759408View attachment 4759409View attachment 4759410View attachment 4759411View attachment 4759412View attachment 4759413View attachment 4759414View attachment 4759416. Here are some current pics. Please help! I just want healthy plant's

Id stick with the 321 ratios, but lower the EC - 1.8 sounds hi to me.

How do your roots look? The only time I have severe leaf issues in flower is if I have root damage.

I run the exact same 321 ratio from seed sprout to harvest. The only thing I change is the EC level, and I only change that if the plant looks like it is over or under fed.

My EC never goes above 0.8, but I can get away with lower levels because I am running AA aero.

Ive posted a bunch of root pics in the root porn thread, but I havent posted any details on my current setup on here.

I plan to start a general advanced aero thread soon - to include HPA and AA, but focused mainly on AA. I'll include all the details on my setup there if you can wait a day or two.

In the mean time, here is a pic of some roots from my current auto grow. The large one is Mephisto canna-cheese - which I dont recommend. The smaller sets are from Sebrings seeds Waterstone autos - which I do recommend. All are hi CBD strains. All are different ages.20201128_192553.jpg20201128_192805.jpg

Awesome @Larry3215! Nice to see more Aero grows. Been looking at AA for a some time. It has some benefits comparing to regular HPA.

The main big positive I see is not having any negatives of running a bigger accumulator tank containing air instead of nutrient solution. As a result creating a silent and effectively running system.

Also interested in how you adjust and set different mixing ratios between air an water or if you just use the air/accumulator tank to pressurize the system/nutrient solution.

Keep it up! Cheers!

Great looking roots bro. I remember your hunt for hairy roots 2 years ago. Seems like youre there.

I picked up some sebrings revenge recently. Excited to try it out.

Post details on your aero. Do u need a chiller?

Im trying to find a different system for the summer. But im crushing RDWC currently bht having to run a chiller, dehumidifier and AC during the summers give me a $550 electric bill

Hold those questions for when I start the thread. They are good questions and it will be good to have them in that thread for others to see.

Hi buddy! Im only running autos these days. Have two Sebrings waterstone in the system now and they are coming along nicely.

I dont need a chiller. Well...not exactly.

Thanks to the design of my system, my root chamber is self cooling. I actually have to heat it most of the time with a small heater in the winter, and even into the summer. But even on the hottest days in summer it stays at the perfect temp.

My rez on the other hand is an old but very well insulated 10 gallon icechest. Because I run drain to waste, I can keep it plenty cool with just a 2 liter bottle of frozen water. In the hottest parts of the summer I need to change the bottles out once a day. In winter every other day at most.

You are the king of DWC. Your plants always look great. IIRC, you are running a much larger grow than I am. Im not sure how easy it would be for you to change over to something like Im running. I still fight tent temps durring the summer because I have no AC and humidity control is also a constant issue. Im on the low side almost all the time.

You will be able to see the details and decide if you want to give it a try when I start the new thread.

I don't need to run a chiller in my HPA system. One of the main positives with HPA is you can position your reservoir almost wherever you want. I positioned my as far away from the grow room as possible.

Water temps stay at 72-75F. I run things sterile though. Residual chlorine at 2-0.5ppm.
Root chambers are being cooled with every spray. I run return pump cycle every 10min 30 sec to 1 minute depending on plants/root chambers I got installed in the system. Every cycle root chambers get air exchange and water returns to the reservoir.
