Is this a case of too much load or just dirty

Only running 600 watt hps and 150 watt led mars hydro ts1000.
Came into the room hearing a crackling with my lights out. Maybe the initial surge was too much? Maybe the dirt making contact caused this? I feel stupid for leaving soil residue on the power bar. There's no excuses for that. Shame on me. I figured I could leave it since it's a decent master craft power bar that looks like it can be used in dirty places. Been using the same setup on this timer for the last 40 days. Thxs for any replies!

I just remembered; If I’m not mistaken I recently read somewhere about Mars leds frying at the socket. I’ll see if I can find it could be ur reason

I would separate the two regardless I don’t know if possible for the Mars to short ur ballast

Fantastic motto. There is a chance some insecticidal soap may have inadvertently spilled into the socket during.... ahem... one of my drunken stupors. Thanks for the heads up on the mars. I'll keep my eye out for any electrical issues people may have.

Im not some super Mars Hydro fan, i do have a ts1000 FWIW, but unless you have some good evidence please dont go suggesting that the light is to blame. There are many variables that could have caused this, but at first glance I would say that power strip being that god damn dirty is more then likely to blame.

I would be pretty upset If i knew my neighbor in my building was this careless with something that could be very dangerous, let alone if you have kids/a family. I mean getting drunk and getting soap in your outlet? Come on man, get it together...

It was a post of someone who had a closet full of lights. They claimed that Mars Hydros were burning in their grows yes. I wouldn't know from personal experience

HOLY CRAP. I emailed Mars Hydro about my unit literally shocking me and their customer service is literally trying to tell me it’s either MY FAULT or “just regular static electricity” THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!! We need to do something about this scum of a company.

A loose connection at the plug can cause that to happen, arcing. You want the plug to fit tightly in the receptacle.

That's not how claims work, YOU are the one that needs to provide evidence, that burden isnt on us.
