Advice on dialing in temps and humidity in tent .

So , I have a 48”x48”x80” tent . I have a warm mist humidifier and a cold mist . Both are atleast 1 gallon . A space heater that pulls 1500 watts . That I have hooked to 4 inch hosing going into lower port of tent . Inkbird temp controller set to 80f for heat.its winter time and tent is in basement ( room temp hovers at 70f . I have humidity set to 70% on ink bird humidity controller . I have a 203 cfm ventilation system with carbon cleaner , variable speed on the lowest possible rpm . Still has good negative tent pressure . I leave the bottom flap open slightly for air on tent . Plus the heater vent hose technically draws in air as it is a fan too . So my problem is I’m struggling to get 70 percent plus humidity . I can get 65% all day . But when heater kicks on it kills my humidity. If I add more fresh air it hurts my heat temp lol How much fresh air am I supposed to be putting in there ? I’m currently in seedling stage . Thanks in advance !

You’re not going to raise humidity exhausting the moist air.

Electric anything kills humidity. 70 degrees is fine. Don’t the lights raise the temperatures? Use the cool mist and an oscillating fan. It doesn’t have to be in the path of the humidifier. Don’t exhaust anything. If it’s in a building unless you’re exhausting outside the building you’re going to end up smelling a tent full of bud.

Or use a digital timer and set your exhaust fan to run 5 minutes every two hours or whatever.
I was leaning towards a timer . I keep hearing how important air is to them so I keep thinking if I seal the tent up and just open one of the flaps that there’s not enough air coming in . And as for temp I was told 70 wasn’t okay because I’m using led lights and that plants under them need to be in a higher temp area . Also I mounted all the drivers outside the tent . So no heat from them . I’ll shut down the exhaust and just open a flap and set up another fan . See how that works .

I spent quite a while experimenting with humidity and temp. What I found was that the position of your humidifier, fan, and heater gives u very different variables. Even moved slightly can create a very different output. What I found worked best for me was having my 10in fan in the back of the tent facing to the right. I have my humidifier in the front left and mister pointing towards back and slightly to the left (the direction of the mister can dramatically change humidity.) Then I have a 6in clip on fan on the front right in the middle of the pole pointing down onto the mister blowing the mist down. The mist then travels directly to the 10in fan creating clouds of mist which highly increases humidity (The 10 in fan has to be positioned correctly to do this as well) U have to sit there and play with it. U know u got it right once u see humidity increasing by the second. I’m in a 3x3x6 with inline fan at top of tent.

Why are you focused on 70%?

Is there anyway you can cover the seedlings to build up humidity with like clear plastic cups?
I know I can make a humidity dome . It’s the point of “set it forget it” I want to get familiar with controlling the environment. All this indoor gear is new to me . Also plan on building a seedling starter rubber made tote with small strip leds and pc fans for intake ect ect Hotrod was spot on with the exhaust . I can’t use my cool mist humidifier sadly , it has a built in temp sensor which fights my inkbird . So went with warm mist. Read this method will also combat mold . Anyways . I have it hovering around 69-73 % . I really , really appreciate the feed back and advice , fellas . It’s my second grow and first indoor .

What are the conditions like in the room with the tent? Average temp and RH? It's futile to change the conditions in the tent without changing the conditions in the room, since you need to vent the tent constantly. When I woke up this morning, my bedroom's rh was 55% and temp 62, bringing my temp up to 68 lowered my rh to 51%....just to illustrate what Renfro said.

Room temp is 72 with 24 percent humidity . Tent temps 80-81 with 70 percent humidity . Small fan in tent blowing lightly towards seedlings .

Why are you stuck on 70%? I'd say if you can hit 65% all day that's great, stop fighting it. 65% is fine at 80F. Plus 65% is safer, less chance of mold.

Many say the air should be exchanged x times per hour, but the numbers vary wildly and they can't all be right. To keep temp and humidity up I've run with very little air exchange, just a tiny PC fan exhausting out a through a carbon filter or passively, a flap or two opened a little..... never saw any impact on growth.

As I’ve read that 70 is where you wanna be at for seedlings . My controllers have it under control . And hot rod called it on the exhaust . At this point I just have e humidity and a fan . It’s keeping my numbers where they wanna be via the controller .
