Controlling stretch in Veg techniques

Adequate lighting isn't my problem. I've been growing for many years. Over the past 10 or so years, I've only run 3 strains, all of them being indica leaning hybrids. They all stay nice and short, which is what I like. This summer, out of quarantine boredom, I brought in a bunch of clones from local breeders, a lot of which leaned more towards the sativa side of things. I had a great OD harvest and became interested in running some of the strains indoors.

The problem is height and stretching. I prefer to run multiple strains together in one room, so I'm hoping that somebody could provide me with some suggestions on how to slow down vertical growth in clones. I am experienced in topping, but that's not the route I want to take. I have heard that heavy defoliation during veg can inhibit vertical growth. If anybody has any suggestions, Id love to hear them.

Gonna go crack an IPA and load a bowl. Happy holidays, everybody.

I use the temperature. The coldest part of the day is about 30minutes before sunrise. An hour after sunrise. The same times cannabis is known to stretch the most.

I mimic that in my temperature control.

I use schwazze days 1 and 21 of flower, it keeps stretch to a minimum. I've never used it in veg.

Pruning the top leaves should help some.

6500k, more blue spectrum. Leds are known to keep internodes tight as well. If you keep your day/night temps similar through flower stretch it will minimize said stretch.
Not worried about stretch through early flower. And my veg tent is all 5000 or 6500k strips/cobs, mostly 6500. Again, lighting isn't my issue. Just sativa dominant hybrids almost doubling the height of my more Indica dominant strains is what I'm trying to alter.

That might be tough to do man, sativas are gonna grow like sativas.

Wait till u flip, ur not gonna be happy with the stretching.
This my biggest turnoff with many strains.

Higher night time temps during the begining of flower will keep the stretch down, but it will do it to your other strains as well so your still gonna end up with diff size plants, best bet is to raise the short ones up by stacking something under the pot.

Them sativas are always gonna stretch And there isn't really much ya can do about it imo
With so many high priced seeds on the market you would think these (so called) breeding gurus would have come up with a strain to combat the stretch.

It's called indica, that's your control on stretch as far as genetics go

Scrog the sat's, that is all i got.
I tried breaking limbs, toppings etc but with the real stretchy ones its either go wide or run out of height

Im talking about hybrids as most strains are these days.
Show me a 50/50 or even a 70/30 that dont stretch much and then id say thats good breeding.
Many people dont want the indica couch lock stone but want a compact plant with fat buds and the sativa high.
