Short college path to pursue cannabis industry?

Long story short, mid to late 20s and no major skills or college credits. Bit of a lazy stoner I guess.

anyway it’s time to do something to make more than 10-13 bucks an hour. Gotta be a way. What can I do for two years or so to make money with cannabis? I can grow well. But I don’t have money to start a business. Nor the knowledge how to. I want to use my skills to make money but don’t know how to get started. Any ideas?

thanks

You say you can grow well, so I'm assuming you have equipment. If not, the equipment to start growing does not have to be expensive. State side seed banks are quick, and if you're in a legal state, you could easily get some clones. Getting a steady customer base can take a little while if you play it safe, but you can slowly ease off the day jobs as you make more from weed. Or you could hire yourself out as a prostitute if you're good with dicks. Just spitballin' here.

Anything cannabis-related is tough. Lots of people think they have the necessary skills — and in most cases, they’re wrong.

Realtors are in the same boat.
“I know the area and can sell stuff, so why not?” :dunce:
Maybe not “cannabis related” but cannabis incorporated down the line possibly. Such as a horticulturist degree? Could I operate a greenhouse or something with regular plants and make good money? I like growing. I’m just saying my million dollar ideas are very limited. I don’t want to be a doctor nor a astronaut, but I need to figure out how to make a better living.

Mr. Dix... uh... Durden is right and like he said, it will take time.

I live in a legal state where the retail weed business is *very* competitive.
Most of their customers are budget shoppers and are into bang for the buck.
As a result, most of their inventory is cheap and unimpressive.

There's still a niche in the legal and illegal market for top-quality cannabis -- and it doesn't scale. The kind of growing where you pay attention to individual plants. Gotta start with the best genetics (usually hand-picked clones) and focus on every detail as needed.
It's gotta be perfect.

Ordinary weed is good for hash and edibles...

Thats probably about all there is to make in most areas. It's legitimately a federally illegal factory job unless you run the place.

Just like in the gold rush, the real money is in selling to the folks doing the work. Picks, pans and shovels made lots of store owners rich in the gold fields. Pots, ferts, soil mixes, tents, lights, etc, etc, are making folks millionaires right now. The lazy part is what will make making real money a challenge. (I speak from experience on that subject)

Become an eccentric, yet charismatic individual and start your own cult centered around worshipping and cultivating cannabis and mimosa hostilis. Grow it out in community that survives off the grid. Slowly build money and power and then reintroduce yourself into society in 30 years as the new world order.. or be lame and go to college major in horticulture minor in business, and walk around in a skunky smelling suit

Start your own business. You don't need a lot of money. Do what you enjoy. Start small, save, build, grow, and be your own boss. If you have the determination that is, but it sounds like you could.

How? Grow and make a lemonade stand outside my house? I’m being more silly than dick, I promise lol. I just mean like renting a building is what.... thousand bucks a month? Sell the buds off the 4 plants I can grow legally? That doesn’t seem very profitable. Can people with a “business” (a tax paying, “real” business) grow more plants? How does that work? I don’t care to grow for someone, but not for shitty wages while they sell my primo for big bucks. But I also don’t know anyone to back me. Are there “investors” out there that I could “google”? I hope I’m saying what I mean coherently, pretty ripped.

i don’t think anyone is going to look at Joe with no credentials that makes some “killa homegrown”. I understand that. So I’m wanting to get some credentials to make me more “look the part” for a high paying job. Anyone could be a fuckin HR person or whatever, but very rarely without that signed off paper from a college. I get that. So I’m just trying to find the right path to start on the adventure. Should I focus on learning “business” or learning more “how plants work” with a horticulturist certificate or something? I’m just trying to commit my time and energy as wise as I can. Thank you all for the help.

It usually takes years for something you love doing to take off and be profitable. Almost by accident. If you go into it thinking solely about making money, you may lose your passion for growing.

I say go with raratt's trade school idea. E eryone needs a plumber/electrician/builder. Even during a pandemic lol. Trades are bulletproof where I am. Hey you've learned a some electrical lately, any interest? :-P

Tried to put a plug back in the wall earlier that dude left hanging. Was screwing it in and I guess touched something and shocked myself. Don’t think I love the electrical stuff lol

The fees for licensing in my state are beyond ridiculous, if you want to get a real business hopefully you have money for the state. Even just a craft license is several thousand dollars
