how do you work out a gram per watt

i know people say a gram per gram per watt are what they hoping to achieve. i got a 4ft x 4ft grow tent and i want to grow 9 plants in 6 litre pots under a 600w HPS i recon i could get one oz per plant by doing this and im far from experienced. so if your goal is a gram a watt what should you be getting with the same set up.

600W 600 grams.

I grow in a 4x4 also, 9 plants in 3 gallon pots with a 600 HPS and last run I got 550 grams, and it was far from an optimal run. I was running 5 different strains for testing and 2 of the nine produced much less than the others so I think 1 gram per watt is very easily achievable with this setup.

less/bigger plants just means more veg time. I'd rather cut that veg time down and get in more flower cycles myself.

A bulb has limited power, it doesn't matter if you grow 50 or 5 the same amount of vegitation/area will receive sufficient light to yeild 1+gpw.
It's not a easy task and no means a given, if you have limited experience I'll be surprised if you manage 600g, 300/450g isn't a bad result at all.

It’s not that hard. I managed 1.3gpw on my first grow despite a bunch of rookie mistakes. Shooting for closer to 2gpw this time around.

Get some good LED lights, like Game Changer or HLG.. 1.5 with lower yeilding strains, 2 g's is possible with a good yeilder. I like all the extras and build quality on the GC's.

You can get those yields from alibaba LEDs too. They’re not for everyone and there’s some risk involved, buts it’s doable.

Very true. Fucking up my nutes is the main reason my yield was lower than I would have wanted. Now that I’ve got everything dialed in I anticipate over 2gpw
