i'm ashamed that the left raised the income limits (in a most sneaky fashion) for the $1400 Stimulus checks..two on the left who shall remain unnamed lied on the Senate floor (i watched live) when the right kept raising the question about why the income limits are so high..i listened to them; to the right.

make no mistake; the income limits were raised..math doesn't lie..but those Senators did and i'm sptiting mad.

now it's supposed to go back where it belongs $75K with phase out at $80k.

A couple earning $200k is not in need of the Stimulus. if you wish to cite child care, that excuse works to age 5..you don't even go to work anymore- you're sitting on Zoom and saving commute costs.

WHY DO YOU HAVE TRUMP'S NUTS SO FAR DOWN YOUR THROAT!!??

Kidding, it's a common response from some bozos.

I don't like the idea of giving money to people that haven't lost income from Covid layoffs. It's just adding the debt for no reason.

The limit should be more like $40-$50k per household, imo.

It kind of depends on if they are going off of 2019 taxes and the type of career they had. If they worked as district managers in a restaurant chain they could easily make that in 2019 and be fucked by 2020.

uggh Bernie babies.

cracher dans la soupe

It's called the Covid stimulus package. There are 10 million fewer people working today than last year. So, yeah, some people will get checks that don't need it and the majority of them will spend it on something that will put others to work.

The article says the Democrats made the eligibility stricter so that some of the higher income families that got previous stimulus checks may not quality for this next one. What am I missing?

Not mad of all the pork in that bill? Less than 10% is going to Covid relief from what I heard.
Election reform? Can't wait to see what is in there.
Are you sure that this bill was only for Covid?

I thought that this was something that they needed to add the Covid bill to but it also has to deal with all the federal funding.

Basically the Democrats have 2 things they can pass (one due to Trump not getting it done in his term) with 50 votes through budget reconciliation. Otherwise if they try to pass anything one senator can stop it from being passed unless there is 60 votes for it.

I don't really know where you are getting that number from though either to know if it is true or not.

The wife and I were like, "what? I thought it was 75K per to start with." I guess I missed where it had been raised until they announced they were going to lower it. I would be cool with like 100K per couple being the top end. As long as it's per couple and not 50K for each of them. (That would bite my wife in the ass)

I'm sure there is a little more pork than needed in there, but that is the way the sausage gets made. The GOP led covid relief had a tax break only aimed at folks making above half a Mil a year. Now they care about deficient spending all of a sudden.

Good point. I was raking it in in '19 due to the backlog of events from Hurricane Micheal. I made 19K less in '20 because of covid. (but even if the two years were added together I would have wiggle room)

I'll take the money but I won't be stimulating the economy. It will either stay in the bank or used to buy stock.
We did spend a little over half of the first $2400 down at the riverhouse. A few hours at $125 per hour for a man on a bobcat and one on a chainsaw, plus some stump grinding at two bucks an inch. I feel like it was well spent.
