As far as breeders claims it’s counted from flip. Your results may differ. But nobody is going to go through a grow op counting individual plants for buds forming.
I'm getting to be this way also.I don't count anything. I toss the plants in the flower tent and when they're done I harvest them. I have plants flowering right now that I don't even know how long they've been flowering. Their not done and when they are I'll harvest them. The only thing I might do is mark the date I throw some in because much of what I grow are crosses I've made and I want a ballpark figure on how long they take so I can decide if they're doable for an outside grow.
I wouldn't pay much attention to what you hear at the hydro shop anyway. Or breeders stated flower times. There are many factors that can affect the flowering cycle length. Plants in smallerplantspots typically finish sooner from my experience. Other variables can extend or shorten flowering time as well.
But I've always thought that the 12/12 flip is when you would start counting. I've had plants start flowering profusely after one week and I've had others take three or more weeks to really start shooting pistils. It also depends on how long the plants were vegging when you flip. More variables.
A lot of newer growers mark a date on the calendar based off of breeder times and harvest much too soon. Lots of recent posts with plants obviously 3-4 weeks out from people seeing an amber trichome on a leaf thinking it's time to harvest.I'm getting to be this way also.
I "might" remember to put a note in Google Calendar when I put a plant into flower. But really, it's all about the "look" now.
I don't know how many times lately I've looked @ a plant that I did mark down, only to realize it's week 9 or 10 already.
Breeder says I should be done, but before checking my dates I knew I had at least 3-4 more weeks before they were actually "finished".
Count from the date flipped.
Ignore breeder timelines.
Hell, don't even "time" your plants. Just grow them.
Guaranteed the bud will be better...
Doesn't help noobs either when shills like Advanced Nutrients promises 100% money back guarantee that the 20 bottles finishes a crop to harvest in just 7 weeks.A lot of newer growers mark a date on the calendar
Oh I get it with the pH. I’ve managed a couple of plants without it. Hydro? Yes.More humor on the subject. At least many are showing their true knowledge of the pursuit. I'll stick with OCD induced intimate inter action and inspect every girl every day. And @hotrodharley I honestly hope the PH manipulation in soil clicks for you. Game changer when you get it. Yet, you are one of 3 things. A hobbyist, corner cutting capitalist or a true grower. Vast differences there. LOL.
I have access to a 6,000sq/ft indoor locally. The owner "Flips and gets paid." His personal are doted on and counted from first hairs. And run till done. Weeks longer than the cattlefeed in the next room.
Pointless debate. Just grow until they quit. LOL.
Easy. No poke. Just a helpful insight proving itself for over a decade in my grows is all. LOL.https://ag.umass.edu/greenhouse-floriculture/greenhouse-best-management-practices-bmp-manual/effects-of-growing-media-on
Read. See how often they recommend adjusting pH. Of course WTF would they know. Right?
I'm still wearing hip boots. I can see the beach though. LOL.I’ve been growing a few months. I’ve waded through the bullshit. Most of it unnecessary.
Most of what I comment is intended for the lurkers. People wanting information. This is why I post what I do.I'm still wearing hip boots. I can see the beach though. LOL.
Grin and bare butt for all who can't do it your way. I do. Just offer my insights first as politically dictated.
Peace and humor.
paper towel !2-3 weeks after flip...at end of stretch.
I wouldn't think you've been counting "wrong" whichever way that may be. Everyone kinda does things their own way. Doesn't fucking matter and it's about as dumb an argument as anything else around here like pH'ing water with soil or germinating in paper towels.
Seeds were unable to germinate before paper towels were invented. Little known fact.paper towel !
