Removing lower bud sites

Same plant about 3 maybe 2 1/2 weeks out from harvest and the buds got bigger. That light switch is about 57 inch high and that white part around it is about 3 inches reference

Looks right around 5 ounces or so, depending on density

was this grown under the best led on the market today? Blackdog right?

Nawh it was dense as hell that way it was 9. And I didnt grow it under the black dog I used the mars setup. I used the black dog on a existing grow of auto flowers. I put one blue berry auto under the black dog proble two weeks before harvest and the rest stayed under the mars. The ones under the mars dropped about 1.8 under the mars the one under the black was about 3 and frosty

Got a notification of a like in this thread, forgot I even made it. The thread was about removing lower bud sites, it had nothing to do with massive defoliation. Their are plenty of other threads to argue over that bs.

Sorry to be blunt about it but cmon, this thread is 5 years old and has been revived and hijacked so people can clap dicks over dry weight?. I had to read through all that shit from the notification... absolute waste of time.

Before the forums and state legalization. ....how many were growing dope number one? Number two...how many were using wonky nutrient additives , "flushing" plant media before harvest , and pruning lower growth to "focus energy on the tops" ??? I swear we have come full circle from the hippie generation and hanging plants upside down to "let thc drain into the buds" or boiling roots and other crazy tales. Once cannabis goes fully legal and real scientists and botanist get a hold of this in a mainstream sort of way....alot of our underground practices are going to seem ridiculous.
lol did people actually hang plants upside down? thats so funny. Sorry for posting on an old thread. Ive been googling questions and reading everything, ever, on the internet about weed.

What conclusion did you come to? Yay or nay?

I pluck all the lower garbage, but leave all the fans. The plant will drop a leaf if not needed, until then they stay on the plant
I do the opposite, I leave all the lowers and remove every fan leaf. When I flip to flower they are twigs with budsites. Need some maintaining throughout flower but you will have rock hard nugs top to bottom, bigger yields and very easy trimming. Also reduces the chances of pm and budrot.

Actually defoliation is a part of the equation if you remove lowers or not. If you like a bushy plant full of leaves then you want to remove lowers. If you are a defoliation ninja you can leave lowers and add to yield.

I used blumats for a little while, consistent moisture plays a far greater role in lower to mid bud density than anything else. It's counter intuitive, but I seen that with my own eyes, multiple times. Stopped using blumets for some other reasons, the lower density suffered so I went back to loli popping, simply on the grounds that it reduces the likelihood of mould. As far as sending more energy to the top, I'm now highly sceptical of that unless your feeding routine has them on the constant line of drought (it can be there with no wilting). If you have high intense lighting hitting top canopy, or too low humidty for the temp, it's on the drought line. The plant can't spare any moisture for lower stuff. But then if you run higher moisture with lower canopy in tact it reduces overall airflow and can increase chance of mold. I opt for the safe option and ''sacrifice'' the lower stuff.

!00% correct, when I used blumats in coco the results were way better than hand watering. Problem is they can be a pain in the ass to calibrate, but once they are I think it is the best method for coco. You can get the same results in ebb n flow by using hydroton as medium and flooding table every 2 hours.
