Hey buddy Im doing good. The move to Oregon has really been treating us well. I’m working on a farm getting paid well so we’ve got money in the bank for the first time ever really. Sadly housing here is expensive and not super common so we are living in a decent townhouse but I can’t grow at home right now. Thankfully my boss has let me put in some plants on the farm to have some personal smoke. Lol I’m ready to get back to growing indoors. Outside is wild around here, the weather is great all year for people but leaves a short grow season to work with. The first season I lived here everyone’s plants got hit with freezing rain the second week of September. Last year it was forest fires in August. And it starts getting wet here by the end of September early October so you gotta have genetics that finish or a light dep.

I definitely love the SOG style of growing. It has always felt to me like the best way to maximize how much bud I could produce in “x amount of space in x amount of time”. I don’t have any love for growing giant stems and branches on big bushes in my grow space, I would rather grow only colas. I’m pretty sure the main reason Renfro started growing bushes was to hit legal medical numbers. I never worried about numbers because it was all illegal where I was.

I can’t say I have any super secret pointers per say. I mostly used peat starter pellets or root riot plugs to start clones. The. They went into 6inch pots with rocks. And into a veg tray for about 2 weeks to build roots in the pot. When they were about 8 inches tall I trimmed the bottom few branch nodes to encourage upward growth and put them in flower. Sometimes if the bottom nodes I left for real branchy during the stretch I would chop them again to prevent over crowding. But mostly I just let them grow up. I liked to rotate and move the plants around for even lighting and air but with your lights and grow area you could just trellis the tray and keep them all supported at once. In the end I had plants between 24-30 inches with about an equal amount of grams in dry buds.

You can fit 48ish plants into a 4x4 tray but you can fit 98ish plants into a 5x5...... that’s something I learned in the last 2 years :). Try to find a plant that grows with a decent apical dominant “spear” shape to maximize yields. My highest yields were with a sativa dominant white widow that consistently hit 30+g per plant. Some of my lowest yields from a keeper plant were around 16-18g per plant but it was a super dank pheno everyone loved smoking.

@Thundercat .. is that why you used so many plants is because of the short growing season?
Until last year I grew indoors in a prohibition state so grow season wasn’t an issue.

Prior to my move I spent 10 years growing “Sea of green style”. I like to grow many small plants for the highest yields in the shortest amount of time. It’s not that hard to pull 20-30g per plant with a little attention to phenotype selection. Multiply that by 48-98 plants under a single light and it’s extremely hard to beat the yield of a good SOG garden. Especially once you calculate in the veg time or lack there of. You don’t spend 6-8 weeks in veg burning power at 18/6.

So, what size are your final pots in?

How many weeks did you veg? I might switch from 1 gals to 3. I am getting tired of watering so many plants
