depending on the car and how many miles you rack up it costs about $8/hourly to have/operate a car. so whatever you make you can take that amount right off the top.
no pizza job when i was a kid gave me wear and tear on my car which is why it's a high turnover position. no one's itemizing at that stage of the game to get it back. you're a kid; you go to school.
Oh no. It costs pennies per mile to operate a car if you're savvy. And if you are dilligent, you record your odometer reading daily and deduct that shit like an adult.
Worst problem I ever had was a blown differential/trans in my focus. I just dropped $1300 the next day and bought my Escort. Worst problem the escort had was a blown head gasket, which was about $400 for parts and fluids.
Tires for my car are like $140+ tax and disposal... $200 out the door.
Shocks and struts are a bargain for old economy cars. Shocks and struts are like $10 each....
Smart drivers have a couple of the same car. Less diagnostic skills needed, and you can borrow parts from your other car in a pinch. I have registered (3) escorts, and scrapped 3 others since then. My car is better than most on a nut&bolt level. I still have my escort 9 years later.
My first car was $24k cash, I'm not trying to spend a fortune to drive anymore...
I never missed a day delivering pizza, that's why I was able to make a living wage. Reported $30-40k, made about 50k. Always had a 1,200-1,800 paycheck, and 40-120 cash in my pocket daily. Life was simple.
