I will try to make this as detailed, yet simple as possible. Sorry about all of the questions ahead of time, it isn’t for a lack of research, but a lack of the ability to pick who to listen to, rather.

I am interested in two things, primarily.

1) I am down to 2 HLG 600s or 4 Vipar P2000. I am leaning towards the vipar, two of them covering a 4x4 seems roughly as effective as one HLG at a considerably lower price. Any hands on experience or a reasonable explanation as to why I am wrong?

Second, to tent or not to tent. I am very well equipped to build a wall in the room that I will be using to grow. I don’t believe that I will have any issues with temps or humidity. Is there any benefit to a tent other than concealment and reflective walls?

Any productive is greatly appreciated. I am currently assembling my RDWC system and watching the seedlings grow. I am sprouting potential mothers for Lucky Lime and Strawberry Cheesecake. Thanks to all for any help.

I don't agree that 2 of those P2000 will be equivalent to an HLG 600. They are 200 watt lights so you would need 3 to give you the same power as one HLG 600. That said these lights do seem to have good diodes so I would think they will do a fine job if that's the way you want to go. They look like a decent quality light and are defiantly cheaper. I would also take a room over a tent any day.

In regards to watts/ppfd, I see that I am short 100 watts but it seems like I would get close to the same ppfd with two p2000 side by side. I’m not expert and I am sure there is a negligible difference but I don’t think that it makes financial sense to buy the HLG. Apples to apples, watts to watts I could buy four p1500 (600 watts) right now for 460 shipped whereas HLG would cost 700 for the same wattage. 76 cents per watt vs 1.16 per watt. Perhaps I am missing something but I don’t see what HLG has to offer in regards to cost vs value. Watching migro I see that if he were to adjust the actual cost of vipar vs full listing, they would come in first in terms of value. Perhaps I’m overthinking the entire bit and just need to order these fugging lights.

I don't think there is anything wrong with choosing the Vipar lights at all man. I love my HLG 600 and it does a great job but that certainly doesn't mean you can't get the same effects for less money. HLG's are very expensive, there is no denying that. You will also have more versatility with multiple smaller lights as you will be able to raise or lower them individually. Personally I am tired of the debate that constantly rages about lights as people take it so personally. Those who bought more expensive lights want to defend their purchase and than many who cannot afford them or are just unwilling to spend the extra money want to defend how the cheapest alternative works. It's all silly. In the end we just want to give our plants what they need to grow some dank bud. While I know my HLG will do that I am also more than happy to acknowledge that there are many cheaper alternatives that can do just as good a job. These new Vipar lights seem to be one of those alternatives and the parts/spectrum look just fine. I doubt you would be disappointed at all going that direction man. The Vipar's sound like a good choice.

Ive claimed over the years many times that China lights work great with results to back it up.

Should I get build the room around the plants? What I am asking specifically is should my walls with whatever reflection method I use be as close to the plant as possible? Or whatever is it not that relevant?
