Ive trimmed these once so far and they got real light green after and didnt seem to take to it to well. Was thinking maybe cuz taking just 2 of these fans is like 30% of the plant. I cant get much growth on the lower branches with these monsters in the way tho. Wwyd? First pics are the ones in question. Posting some of the whole crop tho cuz I think Im ready to flip and wanted to hear opinions. Fairly new so any SOUND advice is welcome. Thanks guys.

they look a bit sad. soil looked dry. underwatered? kinda looks overwatered to me but soil was very dry
maybe lights a bit too close?
looks like that could be it. plants around are better looking. the ones lit up are wilted.

I would leave ALL fan leaves 99% of the time. Those are your main food producers from the light and will transport the food wherever it needs to go. They also act as a buffer against nutrient deficiency acting as life support for your new growth robbing life from the fan leaf. The plant will discard the leaf when it becomes burdensome or the leaf will die off completely on its own.

It only helps you to leave it on.

Just got done feeding. They were thirsty but are normally better kept. The ones your talking about are mostly under my sf4000 led. They seemed to be doing better under the mh. They got that light green when I trimmed them but i only took like 2 of thise big fans and maybe the first branch. They were put under the led at the same time thi so could be either.

The specs on the led say u can keep it at 12 in I believe

The leaves didn't look bad to me, maybe the third picture had some droopy leaves but they could just be heavy with growth too if they aren't overwatered. They look extremely healthy overall!

What Im wondering is if it would be benneficial to take 2 more of these big fans off for more branch growth??? Im just worried about shocking her but is been about a week since i trimmed them.
I wouldn't take any fan leaves off, they'll grow faster if left on. You could train the new growth where topped and allow the plant to grow larger all around. Even if you don't, I wouldn't cut them.

Ya they def droop do to there weight. You think theyd be ok taking the 2 lower fans off tho? They're blocking my branches!!! But ya...they've been performing well in my opinon.

No!! Tempting as it might be, those larger leaves will out-produce any growth underneath and supply the new growth with the food from the larger fan leaves. If you take those leaves, you lose that food production from the plant to put more light on a smaller producing leaf. The new growth will get to the light when it's ready or LST or superscrop if you really want the light on the new growth. That's what I did for my grow and I ended up taking too many leaves off, re-did my research and came back to my original conclusion of leave the fan leaves alone!

See the front left plant in the 3rd picture? I took the most leaves off of that plant and it has been the slowest to recover. I took the least off of the plant in the same reservoir in the back and look at the difference in the 4th picture!20210406_222405.jpg20210406_222357.jpg20210409_215815.jpg20210414_155949.jpg

Cool man thats the kind of info I was looking for. Do you trim or prune at all during veg? Im trying to flip from veg to flower once a month so they wont be monsters. Wondering if I should trim at all at this point besides topping. Maybe the first branch.

I see your led is quite a ways up. Thinking of moving mine up now. Specs said it does a 4x5 at 12 in tho

Those branches will poke through and grow. Those plants have more pressing issues than getting butchered. Those leaves are not drooping because of their weight. They're drooping because the plant isn't happy.
Thx for your input man. Any thoughts on cause of unhappiness???
