up_potting my outdoor plants , could use some advice or tips .

so I have some mature outdoor plants in 5 gallon pots they've been in the soil for a while now and I'm sure they can use a up_pot into 10 gallon I have the space , this how I'm going to go about as I've already have the everything I might need on hand ..

ocean forest soil
chunky perlite
ewc
dr.earth ferts
Diatom. earth

how much ewc per gallon of soil , also how much per bag?

should I add some dr.earth Fert , all purpose or veg&heb bag? if so how much?

how much diatom. earth ? per gallon, also per bag of soil ? id like to use this cause I've had fungus gnat problem in the past.

also I did run into a cal/mag issue in the past, so I'm thinking of adding some epsom salt into the soil, & for calcium any suggestions? I believe the dr.earth veg&herb bag has some but this if I use it ..

thanks for any help guys! mostly need help on the amounts to add into the ocean forest .

Outdoor in 10 gallons? How many times to you plan on uppotting?

If it were me I'd just stick it right into its final pot/bed/soil right now if weather in your area permits and it's properly hardened off.

ewc 1/2 cup

epsom salt 1-2 tbs

dr.earth veg&herb 1 tbs

20 % perlite

how does this look? would this work? are the amounts per gallon okay?

Yeah June 21st. Same as me because you're in the same hemisphere of the earth I live in too. The northern one, except I live in Ontario right now.

Are they autos? I know if you grow a photo plant in 60 gallons up here, you'll be left with a solid mass of roots way before they begin flowering. I mean literally way more roots than soil. Then again here in Ontario we can look forward to the beginning of flowering only in mid to late August, depending on strain. They grow fast outside in the sun and want to reach pretty big sizes in 3 months of veg. Heck even indoors a 3 months veg is considered a long time and grow pretty large, yielding about a kg of bud per plant. Outdoors in California that can be several kg of bud per plant.

If you want to grow little plants outdoors, the best way is to grow autos. The second best way if growing photos is to flower them early by adjusting their light schedule either by bringing them inside into darkness early everyday, or else cover them with blackout fabric or good tarps to block the light to adjust photoperiod artificially to induce early flowering. Often we have to do that up here because certain strains will not finish up by mid or late october before the cold weather arrives.

You can make them survive 3 months in small pots, but chemical fertilizers are likely more practical for the purpose. And be prepared to water twice a day at minimum unless it's raining.

U have a lot more than 2 months of veg if those plants are photo's. Northwood is right about the flowering in mid August. LA will probably b the same. Humboldt and PNW all usually start flowering the week of August 15ish. Just because light is starting to diminish is not the true signal to flower. U are going to have some giant plants. 8 Gallons Ocean Forest
1 Gallon EWC
1 Gallon Perlite

For the fertilizer amount, you should look at their website / instructions.

Epsom salt is water-soluble, so it's not really worth adding to your soil mix. It will just get washed out every time you water. Just top dress it every few weeks if you're concerned about calcium or magnesium. It won't get washed away as quick when it's sitting on the top of the soil.

Diatomaceous earth should be added to the top of the soil after they've been transplanted. It's only effective when it's dry, and I can't imagine it does much inside your mix because it would be frequently wet.

For calcium, I use gypsum. I think you can also use oyster shell too but it's slower release that gypsum.

As a heads up, with 2 more months of veg, those will likely outgrow your enclosure unless you start topping / supercropping aggressively.

I was using supplemental lighting 17/7 to keep them in veg but I decided to flower them , I got a tarp the blocks out the light also..
can I just run the amount of light it'll be getting on the 21st of June, so I won't have use the tarp the entire flower cycle and just let nature take its course from there on ?

They will like the FF soil. I transplanted 10 to 3 gal pales with that. They look like they took to it very well in less than a day. From there they will go to the wide open soil bed where the roots can stretch out and roam. Then grow me some big outdoor trees .

yeah they've been in the same pots for 2-3 months I believe so it was bout time they got some fresh soil and bigger pot,
a few of them have been a lime green color with yellowing bottom leaves .. Im thinking its a nitrogen deficiency ..
im hoping this transplant will fix it .. im aware some strains just have that lime green look but I don't think its the due to some leaves yellowing on the bottom

I noticed a tiny pale leaf coming in very slightly and the roots were just starting to peak through the bottom, I got them in the new pots just in time.

They look way way better in fresh pots in just 3 or 4 days. They perked way up, the fan leaf's stretched full out for the light...they look happy!
