The Person behind the grow?

First drag was in 1987 i think, in New Jersey...loved it ever since but couldn't grow. Friend and i tried a guerilla grow once but yeah, ditch weed fail. So we just bought...chasing that almighty dollar kept me in places i couldn't grow but kept smoking. Finally in 2014 luck changed and now im on 40 acres and been dialing in the grows and finding my groove. Friends went to jail for this plant, I've been arrested twice...and still my love for this gift from god has not diminished.
Criminal that people get arrested for growing a plant while big pharma makes money hand over fist for things that can destroy your life.

Would you believe it if I said I haven't had any desire to partake in any cannabis product in over a decade? I've never sold anything I've grown either and probably never will. I think I'm one of the few that just grows purely as a hobby.
I would say that is extremely rare. Do you give it away then? You must have some happy friends!

Covid raised prices extremely in my location and it started my hobby. A hobby that I had been thinking about and wanting to do for a long time.

I do it to be self sustained. I am an amateur desiring medicinal quality herb. Its also good to not be a part of the Black market.

Funny thing is that growing weed was a gateway for me into growing veggies and fruits.

I would say i grow for the same reason most folks do. To empower myself by supplying myself. Especially now, just moved to a new state, dont know many people yet. Actually not even smoking now but I can grow a couple autos outdoors and have my own stash without having to ask around or pay extravagant prices. 6 weeks left on the ones i have going now...patience.....also, very passionate about growing and always have been. Ever since i can remember ive been planting seeds and doing this. Ive sprouted bag seeds just to practice and find the best methods for this, then thrown them away.

Back in the day
Begging someone to sell me an ounce at $450 and having them refuse was enough for me
Never looked back
$120 is the most I've ever charged in the day. And I know non profit people who will accept $90 now for consultation to a rec user in need. Just favors and gifts otherwise.

Be generous. My grandfather was correct. A favor is worth more than money always.

Peace and a great day to all.

I started growing when I saw my dad's weak setup. He had a few bag seed plants in a drainless 5 gallon bucket with soil he dug up from his yard, growing under a crappy light in a room without a door. I was like, "if you're going to use this space and run the risk, let me takeover and do it right." He was reluctant, but after the first harvest he realized that I wasn't playing around.

I've been reading High Times since I was like 8. Something about the buds intrigued me long before I had any desire to try it. I watched every old grow video and read every article that I could find. I planned on growing my whole life, but had a kid fairly young and had to put it off until he got older. I tried to get his mom to move out west so that we could, but she wouldn't go for it. I was convinced I could make a living off of it, but would have been content with just a few personal plants. I've always loved cannabis in a way that I could tell was different than the rest of my stoner friends. I would keep growing it even if I couldn't smoke.

I grow to relieve chronic pain for myself and my wife. You have to be a millionaire to afford dispensaries, and the quality sucks and if it doesn't it's $15 a gram.
Unfortunately, that is all we will see from the dispensaries. With their rules, they all dry the shit out of it for fear of mold.
Sure it is strong, but harsh and expensive.

I started growing weed because I love to smoke weed. Soon discovered that growing plants, growing a garden made me happy for some reason, I love watching my tomatoes and chiles sprout and grow day by day, take care of them, watch them flower. I love to stare at my bugambilia move with the wind. Watching nature in general always gave me a very calm and fulfilling sentiment, but now I can appreciate it even more I believe.
Also I soon discovered that nothing beats home grown.

That was quite a while ago my friend, I still keep the same mindset. If I know someone in serious need, I give. Keeping karma balanced on the positive side! I believe even after legalization, we'll still be better off taking care of ourselves and those in need. Be well...

Lol so funny people complaining about 15 bucks a gram for good weed.

When I was in high school in the early 2000s near LA $20 a gram was standard.

I tripped out when my buddy that used to grow and sell to dispensaries told me he quit cuz people were selling their stuff for $600 a pound.

Great thread. I'll chime in. I did my first grow in my mom's backyard when I was 16. That was 1990 something. In addition to my indoor mj hobby I always put a few veggies out every spring. Like others have said I just enjoy growing things. Grandparents on both sides had gardens.
I also love mota. I don't drink, smoke or do anything other than mj.
I'll recieve donations every harvest but mostly it's just my personal headstash. I give away to friends in need. I like knowing exactly what I'm smoking and exactly what went into its grow. That to me is priceless. Cheers.

Me and the wife had Corporate jobs for years... we're both semi retired now, and just grow commercially in Oklahoma. We both got fired because of our involvement in the Industry, even tho it's legal. But, now we have got a foothold in the State, and represent a National Company out of Cali. It's been a wild ride for sure. ......and no, I don't look like the Bandit. I really do believe in this product tho... works as advertised. www.airrosshield.com
