Florida GOP pass bill that would clear way for Trump casino license

Florida lawmakers approved a bill on Wednesday that if signed into law would clear a way for former President Trump to pursue a casino license for his Doral golf resort.
According to The Washington Post, the bill includes a 30-year compact between the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the state of Florida. If the legislation is signed, that compact will prohibit the tribe from interfering if the state gives a gambling license to a facility that is more than 15 miles “in a straight line” from the tribe’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood.
Trump’s Doral resort, according to the Post, is located just over 15 miles from the tribe’s establishment. Trump reportedly spent approximately $250 million renovating the location, which he purchased in 2012

A licence to print money. What could possibly go wrong?
Yep, Donald will be holding rallies again and trying to open a casino by leveraging his political power for profit, as usual.

So what's gonna happen when he's indicted in NY state and then by the feds? It's coming as surly as the sunrise and the sun should be shining before too long. I figure NY state is preparing a meticulous case that puts Donald away for the rest of his life along with most of the Trump organization. There is no rush in charging him with the insurrection, yet. It's always harder to fight court cases from inside prison and when he appears in federal court it will be in custody and in an orange jump suit. By the time his trial for the federal charges comes up, he might be so eager to get out of a NY state prison and into a federal one that he will plead guilty to insurrection, provided they transfer him to a federal prison. In any case he won't want to fight the federal charges sitting in court wearing a NY state prison jumpsuit.

I hope his trial for conspiracy to commit insurrection will be on TV, it should be, the public has a right to see a trial of such national, political and historic importance. Donald might plead guilty though to avoid the spectacle, but you never know, he is pretty stupid. I dunno if it would be worth it to pursue other possible charges against Trump, unless he is part of a conspiracy with others they want to target. Donald was the center on many conspiracies, from the insurrection, to fucking with the USPS, to just run of the mill corruption, that could ensnare hundreds of others.

The feds are gonna let NY put him behind bars and then prosecute his ass for insurrection using Rudy among others. NY will put him away for the rest of his life anyway and conditions in a NY state maximum security prison are not good at all compared to a federal maximum security facility. It's not that Donald is particularly dangerous per se, it's his large heavily armed fanatical terrorist following that's the threat, that and the hundreds of death threats the judge and jury will be receiving during the trial. I figure he will be in the dock before too long, he's doing a great job of destroying the republican party while he's running around loose. He's suppose to start up his rallies this summer, but something tells me he will be busy with other things.
how? he doesn't pay his rally venue invoices- his credit is good no longer..how do you think the Four Seasons debacle came about:lol:?

Trump knocks 'wayward' House Republicans who voted for Jan. 6 commission
Trump in a statement slammed the Republicans who voted in favor of the panel, accusing them of not supporting their party, which he called "ineffective and weak."

“See, 35 wayward Republicans—they just can’t help themselves. We have much better policy and are much better for the Country, but the Democrats stick together, the Republicans don’t. They don’t have the Romney’s, Little Ben Sasse’s, and Cheney’s of the world,” Trump said in his statement, referring to Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who was recently removed from her House GOP leadership position.

“Unfortunately, we do. Sometimes there are consequences to being ineffective and weak. The voters understand!”

New York AG Probing Trump Organization CFO's Personal Taxes

What’s Behind the New York Attorney General’s Criminal Probe of the Trump Organization - POLITICO

What’s Behind the New York Attorney General’s Criminal Probe of the Trump Organization
There’s a strong likelihood that evidence has been established of intent to commit fraud.

The announcement by New York Attorney General Letitia James that her office is “actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity” was greeted with a wave of nearly unanimous snap analysis that this spelled big trouble for former President Donald Trump and his company. But behind the scenes, many lawyers, including experienced prosecutors in New York, expressed confusion about what the move actually signifies.

It turns out that James’ unusual public statement portends bad news for Trump and his family-run operation but not for the reason you likely suspect.

The attorney general’s spokesperson noted that the AG was investigating “along with the Manhattan D.A.,” whose office has been conducting for some time a criminal investigation into whether Trump’s company inflated the value of its properties to obtain loans and lowered the values to limit its tax burden. Rather than a new, independent investigation into similar matters, the announcement was more of a combining of resources. Members of the AG’s staff have been named as “special assistant district attorneys” and will be working as part of District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.’s team. For that reason, it might have been more accurate to say that her team is assisting the DA’s already underway investigation.

This announcement was not merely stylistic, however. It represents a serious commitment by James to go all-in on the DA’s criminal investigation. James is a politician who holds elective office, and her high-profile announcement ensures that she will share in the credit or the blame for the outcome of this investigation.

James didn’t have to take this step. Her office could have continued to conduct a strictly civil investigation and brought a tax case or potentially even a case centered around violations of the Martin Act, the expansive New York securities statute that also covers real estate. A veteran of James’ office told me that any false statement in the offering terms or about the entity offering to sell interest in condominiums, for example, could serve as the basis for a Martin Act case. A civil case based on those false statements would not require proof that the false statements were deliberate.

Proving a criminal case is much more challenging. To secure a criminal fraud conviction, prosecutors must prove that the defendant had the intent to defraud. In other words, they have to prove that the defendant intended to tell those lies in order to trick people out of their money. It is never easy to prove what was going on inside the defendant’s mind. The fact that James was willing to stick her neck out and join the criminal investigation in a very public way suggests to me that her team believes the DA’s criminal prosecution will ultimately achieve some measure of success.

That is likely giving Trump’s team cause for concern. Given the high burden that is placed on prosecutors—they will have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt rather than simply by a preponderance of the evidence that the defendant intentionally defrauded someone—James’ confidence is likely based on some very compelling evidence. Here, that has to go beyond numbers in Trump Organization documents that contradict one another, such as valuations of properties that change depending on whom they are sent to. There has to be something more substantial than the discrepancies themselves to prove a person’s intent.

When I was a prosecutor, I typically relied on a defendant’s communications to prove that they had the intent to defraud. Revealing emails and text messages can be a prosecutor’s best friend. The best alternative is the testimony of witnesses who can testify about what the defendant said about his state of mind. That is likely why the Manhattan DA’s criminal investigation has become increasingly focused on Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg, who reportedly is under investigation for bank, tax and insurance fraud. Investigators in Attorney General James’ office are now reportedly looking at “whether taxes were paid on fringe benefits” given to Weisselberg by Trump, including “cars and tens of thousands of dollars in private school tuition.” Needless to say, Weisselberg could be a key witness if he had a reason to flip and testify on behalf of the prosecution.

Weisselberg is not the only person who has been under the crosshairs. The Manhattan DA’s office has obtained millions of pages of documents and has almost certainly subpoenaed current and former employees. The AG’s civil investigation has imposed its own demands on the Trump Organization and its principals, resulting in the sworn deposition of Eric Trump in October and others. Although Eric Trump did not take the Fifth, it would not be surprising if others do so now, despite Trump’s public statements that taking the Fifth is an admission of guilt.

An investigation like this one imposes a great cost on the corporation being investigated. Every time the Trump Organization obtains a loan, it must fully disclose what it knows about this investigation to the lender to avoid a claim that they concealed facts that could have caused the lender to change its mind about the loan. They have to make the same disclosure to investors and others. Whenever I make disclosures like this on behalf of clients, it is a challenge. The disclosure must be accurate and complete, which can scare away lenders and business partners.

Jennifer Weisselberg: Trump Org's Allen Weisselberg Will Flip on Trump (businessinsider.com)

Jennifer Weisselberg says the Trump Org. CFO, her former father-in-law, will flip on Trump in New York investigations

  • Jennifer Weisselberg said Allen Weisselberg, the CFO of the Trump Organization, will flip on Trump.
  • She is Allen Weisselberg's ex-daughter-in-law, and was married to his son Barry.
  • Jennifer Weisselberg has also been cooperating with prosecutors who are investigating Trump.
Jennifer Weisselberg said Allen Weisselberg, her former father-in-law and the longtime chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, will flip on Donald Trump.

Weisselberg was speaking to CNN Thursday about the New York investigations into the Trump Organization and the former president. Interviewer Erin Burnett asked her directly: "Will Allen Weisselberg flip on Trump?"

She responded with a simple "yes," prompting Burnett to note there was "no hesitation" with her answer.

Weisselberg was married to Allen Weisselberg's son, Barry Weisselberg, from 2014 to 2018. Trump and his wife attended their wedding and Weisselberg was also present at Trump's inauguration. Since September she has been cooperating with prosecutors who are investigating Trump's finances, and has turned over several boxes of documents and a laptop.

Trump is under two investigations in New York. The New York attorney general's office announced Tuesday it is investigating the Trump Organization "in a criminal capacity," as opposed to a civil one. The Manhattan district attorney's office is also conducting a criminal investigation into whether the Trump Organization committed tax and insurance fraud, among other crimes.

Both offices are also looking into the taxes and personal finances of Allen Weisselberg with the hopes of gaining leverage that could convince him to cooperate with prosecutors in the Trump investigations, CNN reported Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer and fixer, said that he believes Trump will be the one to turn on everyone else involved in the investigations into the Trump Organization, including his own children.

Weisselberg also told Burnett that while attending Trump's inauguration in 2017 it felt "dangerous" for him to become president.

"The amount of power given to a president — I just think it's irresponsible to give somebody who is self-serving and narcissistic that much power when it's inevitably always to benefit themselves," she said.

When asked why she is cooperating with prosecutors now, Weisselberg said it's because "it's so horrifying that Donald Trump could be president again, knowing what I know."

Trump slams 'weak' Republicans who don't want to talk about Arizona audit
During a sit-down interview with One America News Network (OANN), Trump reiterated his unsupported claims of election fraud. The former president told OANN reporter Chanel Rion that Republican voters want to know "what's going on in Arizona."

“That’s all people ask me. They say ‘what’s going on in Arizona?’ They want to talk about the election fraud. The weak Republicans don’t want to talk about it,” Trump said. “The weak or stupid or RINOs [Republican in name only], call them whatever you want, and yet the Republican voter that’s what they want to hear.”

“The Republican voter wants the story. The weak Republican politician doesn’t want to talk about this story,” Trump said.

The remarks from the former president come after Trump loyalists in the state Senate pushed forward with an audit of the 2020 election in Maricopa County, the largest county in the state.

However, the firm conducting the audit said Tuesday that no election data had been destroyed, contradicting Republicans' claims that officials had deleted data in the county.

The Odds Of Donald Trump’s CFO Flipping and Helping Send Him to Prison Just Shot Up | Vanity Fair

THE ODDS OF DONALD TRUMP’S CFO FLIPPING AND HELPING SEND HIM TO PRISON JUST SHOT UP

Trump is said to be “agitated” by the criminal investigation into his longtime employee, which he probably should be!

ne of the key figures in prosecutors’ quest to actually put Donald Trump behind bars is Allen Weisselberg, the longtime Trump Organization chief financial officer. With the company for decades, Weisselberg has described himself as Trump’s “eyes and ears” at the firm and presumably, in the event that any laws had ever been broken, would know about them. In fact, as his ex-daughter-in-law, Jennifer Weisselberg, put it to Air Mail earlier this year, “Allen knows every bad thing [Trump] ever did.” That kind of witness would obviously prove invaluable to the government officials trying to make their case, which is why, unsurprisingly, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. has been working for months to “flip” Weisselberg and get him to cooperate against the ex-president. And while it’s not clear where Vance’s office is in its efforts, it appears the Trump Organization CFO may soon be under intense pressure to cooperate with the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James, which just happens to be collaborating with the D.A.

The New York Times reports that Weisselberg is officially under criminal investigation by James’s office, which is examining if taxes were paid on “fringe benefits” Trump gave him, including cars and thousands of dollars in private school tuition for at least one of Weisselberg’s grandchilden.
Per the Times:

The focus on perks and Mr. Weisselberg overlaps with the Manhattan district attorney’s long-running criminal fraud investigation of Mr. Trump and his family business. The district attorney’s office has been investigating the extent to which Mr. Trump handed out fringe benefits to some of his executives, including Mr. Weisselberg, and whether taxes were paid on those perks…In general, fringe benefits—which can include cars, flights, and club memberships—are taxable, though there are some exceptions. Companies are typically responsible for withholding such taxes from an employee’s paycheck.
Rather than risk bumping into each other, the two investigative offices recently began collaborating, another person with knowledge of the matter said. Two assistant attorneys general from Ms. James’s office have joined the district attorney’s team, which has been seeking to turn Mr. Weisselberg into a cooperating witness against Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization, people with knowledge of that effort said…. In addition to the fringe benefits, Ms. James and the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., have examined whether Mr. Trump’s company inflated the value of his properties to obtain favorable loans and lowered the values to reduce taxes.
For months, Mr. Vance’s office has pursued Mr. Weisselberg as a potential cooperating witness, people with knowledge of that effort have said. Mr. Vance’s prosecutors, who have paid particular attention to Mr. Weisselberg’s fringe benefits, subpoenaed records from Mr. Weisselberg’s bank and the private school in Manhattan that his grandchildren have attended, The Times has reported. Mr. Weisselberg’s former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Weisselberg, has said that prosecutors had asked her about the tuition payments as well as gifts her ex-husband, Barry Weisselberg, received from Mr. Trump, including an apartment on Central Park South and several leased cars.
As The Washington Post reported in March, Vance’s office—and now, seemingly James’s—has been “delving deeply into the personal and financial affairs” of the senior Weisselberg, with the goal of getting him to flip and become a witness against Trump. The D.A. is said to additionally be focused on both Barry Weisselberg and the other son of the CFO, Jack Weisselberg, “a tactic that could be an effort to increase pressure on the elder Weisselberg.” Jack works at Ladder Capital Finance, which, according to the Post, happened to loan the Trump Organization more than $270 million. Barry—the ex-husband of Jennifer—is a Trump Organization employee who managed the Wollman ice rink for the company before the city ended its contract. Last month, Jennifer turned over a trove of financial documents to Vance’s office, which contain information for her ex-husband’s bank accounts and credit cards, as well as his statements of net worth and tax filings. “My knowledge of the documents and my voice connect the flow of money from various banks and from personal finances that bleed directly into the Trump Organization,” she said. And according the Post, those documents contain some extremely interesting information regarding laws that may have been broken:

The documents show an array of payments and perks that Barry Weisselberg and his family received as a result of his employment for Trump’s company over 18 years, likely raising key questions for investigators analyzing the finances of the cash-only skating rink and working to ascertain whether the proper taxes were paid…. In [his divorce] deposition, Weisselberg acknowledged making errors in explaining information about his finances. He said, for instance, that he had forgotten that he shared an investment account with his father and he misstated his salary, prompting interjections from his attorneys when repeatedly confronted with contradictory information, the transcript shows.
He could not answer some questions about his taxes, the transcript shows. When asked whether taxes had been paid on the corporate apartment where his family previously lived, he said he wasn’t sure. Asked how the company determined the size of his bonuses, which tallied about $40,000 annually from 2015 to 2017, he said he had “no idea.” When pressed in the deposition to explain discrepancies between what he said he earned and what he reported on tax forms for the Internal Revenue Service, he said: “I’m not an accountant. I know what I make. I’m not too sure of certain things.”

Trump's blog sees decline in online interactions: report
Interactions with posts on former President Trump’s new blog have dropped significantly since it was launched earlier this month amid an effort by the former commander in chief to maintain an online presence.

On the blog’s first day, The Washington Post reported 159,000 total social media interactions. The following day, interactions dropped to 30,000 and have since not surpassed 15,000 per day, according to a Post review of data from online analytics firms.

Trump’s blog received about 4 million visits the week ending May 18 from desktop and mobile devices.

During the same period, the blog has been shared on Facebook an average of less than 2,000 times per day, a change from the tens of millions of comments, shares and reactions his Facebook page received each week last year, according to social media data firm BuzzSumo and Facebook-tracking tool CrowdTangle.

The Post reported that despite high interactions with Trump's blog content at the beginning of its launch, his posts have been shared less and less by users on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
