Funny story. My Cory's are, well, not always, but frequently laying eggs. Now worked out that it is due to a temp change. Anyways, we had some eggs laid on the glass, no result, but perhaps 2 to 3 weeks later, I had cause to clean out my canister filter. Swimming around the top of my filter were two little Cory's and 3 to 4 years later, they are still with us! They even survived our bushfires with 3 weeks no power, heat or filter working. Lost a few other fish, but not our Cory twins.. Will find a pic..

These guys are new to me. African Cichlids.
Loving them more and more every day. Much different to my usual communal tanks..
Added another filter to this 200l (50g) tank and working on how to raise the PH. They like it high, around 8. Substrate is Aragonite which helps raise the PH, but any tips would be appreciated.

Not current on names of brands now. But cichlid lake salts was my method years ago. Good luck.

Shit man what you wanna know. Female under the rock is the mate for the red alpha male, lake malawi hybrid likely. They are mouth brooders so dont be suprised if she stops eating, loses weight and cheeks get fat. Holding eggs/ babies. One with the narrow nose/ stripe. Prolly lake tangunita. Spell check. Dif african lake, lil dif ph. African cichlids are pretty hardy. But obviously test your water and act accordingly. A quality fish book from a book store would help. Nothing you cant find on the internet. Im kinda old school i like books

Thanks for your reply The Outdoorsman.
They were great tank mates, but yesterday I did a water change and changed up their environment, added a few rocks, nooks and crannies, and there was a bit of aggression after that, but all seems to have settled out now.
I have a list of what I have and have worked out what is what. Lots to learn.
