Not true. People could be running well water( like me) and have way different readings than your h20. I had nothing but problems with promix., no PH needed
Almost $50 at my hydro store.P.S...... I pH to 6.3 although Premier (the maker) recommends less. It's what works for me- and I'm on well water but run it thru a reverse osmosis 4 stage filter. I've been growing with it for over 30 years and used to sell a ton of it when I was a Director of Operations for a chain of garden centers. I remember years ago I used to pay around $23.99 for a 3.8 cu.ft. bale, now it's up around $40.
Gotcha. I just did not know if it was a soil like ocean Forrest or happy frog. One is recommended veg and the other for flower by their self. I knew Pro mix has some stuff in it but was unsure on exactly what. I'm still very ignorant on a lot so some of my questions may be kind of dumb lolThink of promix as an inert filler that can be used as a base for building a super soil or straight out of the bale and watered with your favourite nutrients for the whole grow.
I use the HP version and it has plenty of perlite but if you were using 50% only with soil and all the goodies that go in a super soil then you might want to add some more or maybe rice hulls but it stays pretty porous.
Anything you're growing your plants in is recommended for veg or flowering. It's what you feed it that makes it work for both.

Yes very helpful. I've been looking at doing subcools super soil mix but I'm concerned with doing a smaller quantity for my applications will get the mixture off. But if it's shy ingredients more so than over doing it, it should still come out fine? Cutting it in half will still be way more than I'll need or have storage for considering I'm trying to be discrete. It is nothing like Ocean Forest or Happy Frog.
Ocean Forest is heavily amended peat mix (I hate it) and happy frog is a more mellow, stable peat mix with forest products and myco.
I don't use pro-mix any longer as it holds too much water.
Also keep in mind they have different blends of their soil so Promix to one person could be different because they forgot to say they are using Promix BX or promix HP. For example the statement I made above is about promix HP. But promix HP + ammendments would work well for someone in a dessert scenerio that wants extremely good tasting weed. It will not get you big strong plants without any additional foods. Check into mixing in some Bio - Live. Also consider adding compost to the top soil when the plant is growing).
To prevent damping off mix it separate from your seed mix.
Sorry for the ramble hope there was something helpful there I jsut smoked
Very well put. I used the bx and i had to add perlite. ( Hp = high porosity). I'm also using water straight from my well and even after phing, my plants hated life. Ima agree with you on pm holding too much water. I could never keep them happy, they'd look ok the day of watering, next day like crap.It is nothing like Ocean Forest or Happy Frog.

Yes, go a cubic ft of each ( compost, peat, aeration of choice) then just scale down your amendments to the right quanity. That's what i do. I no longer make the big batch of coots mixYes very helpful. Would I be out of line asking what your supersoil recipe is?Very well put. I used the bx and i had to add perlite. ( Hp = high porosity). Plant life has been so much easier now that I'm using my supersoil during veg as well.
Looks like you answered my question before I could post lol.Yes, go a cubic ft of each ( compost, peat, aeration of choice) then just scale down your amendments to the right quanity. That's what i do. I no longer make the big batch of coots mix
Oops sorry, not sure what quantities subs recipe starts with, coots is 3 cubic ft of each i believe
Not at all. I suck at linking shit on here, but i have a thread in the organics section called lobster compost. The scaled down recipe is there. If you cant find it, I'll @ you later on in the day ( rain delay at work right now)Would I be out of line asking what your supersoil recipe is?
