IMO fuck breaking up bales of promix. I too was growing in it 30yrs ago. Grew in it, that or sunshine mix for a long time if i wasnn’t growing in my tubes. Coco hit the scene i gravitated to it.
Nowadays I grow in a light soil amended with coco. After a couple waterings i treat it just like dirt. Kings Mix is my go to, if I can’t score that it’s 707. I aint got time to break up bales and i don’t got time to water them slowly at first and or add in a surfactant.

I think the best part about it is its re usable.Bang it hard with salts or caress it with dry and ewc doesn't matter.Clean out the old roots and its ready again.

I beg to differ. Neither the HP or the BX have any nutrients in them. The ProMix Veg&Herb does have organic time release nutrients but they worked badly for me when I grew in a 50:50 mix of it and the HP. When I used it straight up it grew very healthy pot plants and when the bottom leaves started to yellow I up-potted them and off they went again growing great and under CFLs too.
WRONG....... read the bag or go to the Premier website. It has a slight nutrient charge in it, enough to last for the 1st 10 days.

After the first watering maybe two really those trace nutrient super turbo chargers are gone. It's really an inert media like old med said...
Same can be said about the turbo chargers in SS#4. The main stays are PH adjusters but I find myself adding a bit more of that in the beginning also.

Not to rain on the parade...

That's prmix BX and comparing it to promix HP..

Either way there is hardly a starter charge that to me is just some marketing for it..

Like I say earlier in the thread lol BX is not HP
All promix contains a starter charge, including the hp.

There is none but some bro-science guy told then there was so they won't believe the labels. Either that or they're Miracle-Grow freaks who think everything comes with free ferts.

When I stick a plant in a pot of straight ProMix I water it in good with a charge of 3-part nutes for it's first soak.

If I'm starting from seed I don't bother adding nutes for the first watering but if I'm transplanting bigger plants or clones I'll add nutrients.
