I just harvested my white widow, 1st time drying and curing

I just harvested, in the middle of my 9th week. This is my first time actually drying with the intent on curing.. I don't want to make any mistakes. Any advice please.... I am using my 2x2 grow room. Plenty of ventilation and filtration. It's dark and warm around 79 degrees with my humidity around 50 percent. I have quart Mason jars ready for curing when dried. Pics attached with light on so you can see... any advice welcome. I was at around 10 to 20 percent amber trichomes cause I want a milder high. Pics attached...

Looks like those plants had some time left to bulk up still. Early pick imo
Plenty of filtration and ventilation is not needed and will dry those buds way too fast. A small air current running past the buds is more than enough.
Warm and humid = mold
You want to aim for 60° and 60% rh.
Also....you're drying your buds in the same room you grew them? Without cleaning it first?

these are my plants at day 63 and I’m expecting another 7-14 days before I think they are ready.

Yours above I posted @NugNewb are not even close to what mine are now considering you chopped in the same time I’m expecting!

Assumption you got too eager, harvested early, haven’t thought about how to cool your drying area down more, and subsequently will end up with hay smelling nugs that barely get you stoned.

Those are harvested WAY too early. Easily had at least a month to go. 79 is too hot to dry properly at. Ideal conditions are closer to 60F/60RH.

Maybe try again next time, GL.

Looks like alot of clear trics on there to me with some amber on the sugar leaves which means nothing. Why are people so set on what % amber the trics are. Pick it when it's ready.

Trichomes don't matter. You can tell from the whole plant pictures that they had at least a month to go.

Tough crowd. ....

Anyway, to try to help out. . .. 79 is a bit high but I dried a plant at those exact conditions and was dry enough in 5 days for me to trim and jar up. After going into jars, I burped those twice a day for about 3 weeks. Curing is relative, and quite frankly i grow enough personal that it doesn't sit around too long, and I'm almost always out by each harvest so i smoke it sooner than i should. It's head smoke so what do I care?

Not everyone. Not splitting hairs guy, let's stay on task

And the task is that this guy harvested immature flowers.

people need to learn to actually let a plant grow to its potential and stop being eager to harvest and then subsequently be disappointed by the outcome.

If you’d been growing any amount of time you’d know this.

how long you been growing? If it’s less than a year do you even know what a ripe plant looks like?

Most people don’t know what a truly ripe flower actually looks like.

I love simple sentences so here’s one I say quite often.

“It’s easy to harvest too early, it’s hard to harvest too late!”

have you ever heard anyone say “damn it I harvested too late!”??

how many times have you heard someone say “damn I harvested too early”??

Oh shit... I was in the middle of my 9th week.... attached are pics of my trichomes... i did trim them a little lean... does it still look to early.. the leaves were all yellowed and dying... I don't like couch lock so I thought the time was right... what do you think...
In response to just these pics alone, yes you harvested too early!

Everyone gets hung up on trichome development and as such they see amber and think whoohoo I’m within the Harvest window.

but ultimately your plant needs to at least look somewhat “ripe” before you even begin checking trichomes.

once you understand ripe plants and how their appearance over all changes during the flowering to ripening phase, you’ll never need to check a trichome again.

I guess you have to be careful what you post or have a thick skin with some of the harsh critics I've seen so far. I guess the internet makes people brave, I'm not used to being disrespected face to face it leads to a world of hurt.
Or if you’re unsure ask and wait for responses!

the good growers on this site unfortunately have seen it all and most of them have been members here for over a decade and we see the same stupid early harvests with each new influx of newbies.

so we’re sorry that our language filters are a little worn out now but we've been saying the same shit day in and day out for years and yet people still don’t pay a blind bit of notice!

reason being if someone wants to harvest they are going to regardless of you telling them it’s not ready because ingrained into their head is

Early harvest - energetic head high
Late harvest - couchlock

When it reality it’s strain dependant.

the only thing that changes with ripeness is the length of time that “high” lasts for!

I appreciate the honest talk. This is the first time I have actually grown to harvest, my first batch was bag seed and I had males, females and hermis in the mix and I had a bad accident and wasn't able to properly harvest my only remaining plant. I thought I was on point this time around and was going to wait another week but according to everyone, that still would have been too early. Yes, I did buy into the early energetic high and late couch lock high cause that is what I have been reading everywhere. The reason I grow is because I live in Texas, I hate that stuff we get from across the border, and I use it for my diabetes symptoms. I used to be addicted to pain killers due to the severe neuropathy I have in my feet and smoking really helped keep me comfortable at night. But it got harder to get, was becoming expensive for schwag, and the few times I had good weed, what a difference it made. This is the only thing that works and I invested good money to try to get this growing thing down but so much conflicting information. I just started a couple of strawberry diesel strains thinking I had this one in the bag... I guess you live and learn. So if anyone can help... Should I throw this stuff out??? Should I go ahead, dry it out and give it a chance??? I'm new but I learn fast and I am not ready to give up. Thanks again...
