It's as bad as it can get for the republicans and in most other democratic countries they would have been extinct as political party by now. Facts, common sense and basic patriotism mean nothing to the suicide cult that is the republican base, these people are locked in. One way they can lose in 2022, is if Trump goes to prison and divides the party (his specialty) in doing so, like having his hardcore base say home etc. If Trump is not on the ballot and this bullshit keeps up with covid the election laws, they might lose, but they've tried to build in an advantage. However there is the law of unintended consequences and it makes it harder for them to vote too, it raises the level of motivation required to vote and many provisions can be defeated with organization on the ground and court challenges.
This is now a fight to the death, if either side gains a significant advantage they will exterminate the other with laws. Voting rights and opportunities advantage minorities and the democrats and laws can negate gerrymandering and restricted ballot access. People should be able to register to vote automatically by checking a box on their income tax form, we do it where I live. We all know what the republicans will do, destroy liberal democracy and the constitution in order to retain power.
Was watching Dark Side of The 90's the other night, the one about Jerry Springer and trash tv, which I think parallels our current political state fairly well. These train wrecks have a lifespan, because at some point you either have to up your game to stabbings/porn, or else people just get bored.

we're dealing with the second paragraph now down this direction.....Texas gov.....is trying to do everything in they're power with Voting rights, restricting the ballot box.....that was the whole idea for the Dem down here walking out.....SB3 needs to die, and so does SB7......

Anything to sow chaos in the voting districts that are gerrymandered out of any state wide power to protecter rights by changing the rules enough to make those hour long lines choke out their ability to have their votes impact the statewide results.
Between the stopping people who care about American's rights to vote from helping people who want to vote, but have made a mistake somewhere, and allowing radicalized thugs to screw with people who are trying to vote after waiting for hours to have some melanin-lite Karen with a gun trying to gum up the works. Im not sure if they need much more to keep power for the current Republican trolls in Texas for the next decade.

they're doing it man, and from me look outside in.....all i can do is SMH.....i do get the feeling that Texas in the next coming years i going be a swing state eventually.....simply cause most of the heavy cities are Dem....the city i'm close to is Dem......i don't have the map, but if i'm right most of the southern counties are Dem....it's just the outling counties that the Dems need to get ahold of.....

McCarthy, standing on the steps of the Capitol on Thursday, insisted to reporters that Pelosi and her party were solely responsible for the security breakdown at the sprawling complex that fateful day. It's the same argument he made moments before officers began their testimony on Tuesday.
He said the Speaker was aware there could be violence at the Capitol as early as Dec. 14, and that Pelosi left McCarthy and other Republicans out of conversations with the House sergeant-at-arms about calling for reinforcements from the National Guard.
Early intelligence reports had begun to circulate within Capitol Police about a threat to Congress related to the election. A joint session of Congress on Jan. 6 was held to certify the Electoral College win of President Biden. Trump had repeatedly made baseless claims that the election was stolen, claims that were echoed by many in the GOP.
Pelosi aides have said she was not briefed at the time on the intelligence of a threat to Congress.
Capitol Police do not report directly to Pelosi or the leader of the Senate — who was Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) at the time.
They do report to a board that includes the House and Senate sergeant-at-arms and the architect of the Capitol.
Pressed on whether McConnell was equally responsible for the security collapse, McCarthy said, no, it was “fundamentally different.”
McCarthy did not provide a specific example of what was fundamentally different, though he said Democrats on the House Administration Committee are appointed by the Speaker. That panel has oversight jurisdiction over Capitol Police.

Lots of folks moving to Tx. Just a matter of time before it flips. As far as the red states putting in more voter suppression laws, I think it will backfire. Black and brown folks, plus everyone else who votes blue are going to turn out in droves. But the redistricting is going to sting. We've got two new seats here in Florida, and you know they are going to be drawn using red math.
