Plant took off this weekend...

Yes, Major. The 6th node is just developing and I am going to top it. Always planned to SCROG it, especially now with all of that extra lateral space. I am not sure if I should bend the plant as well. I have played around with the plant a little, just nervous about damaging or breaking it. It is surprisingly malleable, though. Still a bit nervous about bending the main stem 90 degrees. lol

You can also top it lower if you wanted to ScROG it. Growing it to 6-7 nodes helps in creating a strong root that’ll bounce back quick. Shit, I topped mine from 7 to 3rd node for manifolding

You'll learn quickly how resilient these plants are so don't even worry. Even if you did manage to bend a bit much with a little tape and a few days time you'll soon realize that you accidentally discovered supercropping. As long as you don't have root problems or an infestation, it's actually hard to hurt these plants.

It's been fun to watch for the first time. It tripled in size in three days! Today marks day 11. Everything seems to be going well, but what the hell would I know? bwaha

GG4 clone in FFOF
Daisy-chained two 1200 watt "burple?"
470 true watts
Swapping tents right now to a 4x2 for space issues.
Did you flip light schedule yet ? Size really changes then..for like a few weeks

After reading Uncle Ben's thread on Topping, I marked where I think I should make the cut for four colas. Do I need to adjust my sights?

I cut after the fourth node. Im not that experienced with topping so wait on someone who is to chime in. I like to low stress train my plants by tying it down to the lip of the pot and warp it around the outside.

@Tangoroo Yeah manifolding (or mainlining) does involve several stages of topping but bc of the training (LST) that goes along with it, it earns it's own title. If I can get my current grow under control, I'll be mainlining my plant.

Regarding your plant, I've never trained a clone but with spacing and structure like that, maybe somebody out there has a refined method developed? If you're still transplanting to a bigger pot, can you plant it deeper and start your training a node higher where it's stacked tighter (I also don't have soil growing experience sorry)?

@Major Blazer Thanks. I was wondering if I should have planted deeper. I planned on just growing it in the pot it is in now. Trying to keep everything as simple as possible this time.

Topped her today. Above the second true node. Now, I get to see what happens, lol. It is pretty cool seeing the nodes swell up almost immediately after the cut.

Hey Tangoroo, looking great!

Somebody please correct me if I’m wrong but it looks to me like maybe you topped in the wrong spot. Whenever I top, I always remove as little of the plant as possible, as in just a top of new growth. Then, at the spot that was topped the plant branches in two directions with new growth. Any top on any end of branch that gets this cut will sprout into two branches. To me this makes more sense as I’m not chopping half of the plant off like you did. Look at this pic of the cut that I would have made marked in blue, maybe even a tad bit higher than where I marked it right below the new growth. When I top like this I usually only top twice, once like I marked the pic and then the second time I top in two highest spots of new growth.

Hope this helps and again if I’m wrong somebody please chime in and set me straight.3CB9A404-2101-4E9E-BC31-7BEC902D17F1.jpeg
