What is the latest day in flower that you can defoliate? I generally go up to day 21 but won’t be able to until day 24. Is that pushing it? It’s only 3 days but i don’t want to mess this cycle up

Last day before harvest?.....lol
Like you said it's only three days, if you do it on the 21 day I don't think it's going to do much more harm on the 24 day.
If your not sure just do 1 plant and you will know for next time

May I ask...when someone suggest you defoliate...what exactly does that mean to you..

To me it's abstract, but themed..removing fan leaves.. or unwanted biomass

You can remove older leaves in senescence, younger uneeded leaves. Growth cost your plant energy, best let the plant utilize that energy for better growth. Remove uneccisary leaves or nodes or branches. And never daily... cyclic pattern leaf removal should happen in healthy cycles

Yup i meant removing leaves that are blocking bud sites. I lollipopped a lot all the way up to my trellis

I do that also here and there but i need to remove a lot of leaves at once
I've never paid attention to the don't defoliate after day 21 rule. I've removed major amounts of leaves at week 6 or 7 and nothing bad happened. Got plenty of yield.

If it's a photoperiod, you can do it anytime the plant is thriving... With autos, only sparingly. Undergrowth and damaged leaves. Shwazzing is what it sounds like you wanna do and I have no experience with that. Basically stripping all fans and unwanted leaves shortly before harvest to promote more bud growth and density... Do research but if I were to do that it would be in the last week of life...

The plant has a much different agenda than we do. They want to continue their genes, to make and protect seeds. We are not pursuing that which is best for the plant, we want the best bud for it’s psychoactive properties which the plant don’t care about. The point being that “natural” in all respects may not best serve our particular goals.

Be careful. Those leaves are the forgiving factors when you fuck up your plant. Just keep that in the back of your mind.
This is important to factor in. Your larger leaves act as storage of unused nutrients elements both for impeding and future use, if you are in organic souls or medias the amount of readily available nutrients is variable based on soil biodiversity, removing to many leaves could negatively affect the plant.

Their are no silver bullet techniques they all require nuanced knowledge of effects

To much or too little of anything will negatively effect your plants health and production

some people want theory some people want laws some people want a shortcut

its up to each person to ask the right question if they expect the right answers...

this is not me saying thier are dumb questions, cause i get those(apparently algea is a big problem for some growers), but that not everyone is a teacher or a technical writer, and this isnt our jobs( well growing is my job) we are not in any way expected to conduct ourselves with any professionalism none of you pay me

At day 70 of flower my plants never looks good or proper with defoliation done. Looks like shit and sucked up. So I just keep everything left alone and just accept it for what it is. Keep my tops. Hash the rest. On to the next run. It’s a hobby for me for before a needed item per say. So I rather keep the prettiest plant till the end. It’s my plant. My rules lol

If you’ve got any yellowing or the plant is not in its prime leave it, you just may end up needing those leaves
