Scrog square size

About to make my scrog net. Local hydro shop only sells 6” square netting so I decided to make my own.

Ive seen every square size from 1.75” to 4” recommended.

Im thinking 2“ would work best. Tempted to go 1.75” but I think it might be a bit fiddly.

Wondering what experienced scroggers think is best?

Thanks

Not a pro but nobody answered I’m guessing cause it matters little. I like 4” for what it’s worth

Im using a 3” but also have a 2”.

prefer 3”

not as tidy as I would have liked it as I tried to gain more vertical height this time as previously had a 8” tall canopy.

this is one plant in a nearly 3x3ft scrog.

Might depend on your technique within scrog. My 3x3 flower space I used a homemade with 4” and was considering making it 5” or 6” actually. I didn’t want to weave any branches though and just mainly used the grid to spread branches.

Use the 2” it works the best for weaving the plant and it not getting to tall to weave thru the next hole I’ve used a few different sizes and the two inch was always the go to

I’ve used scrog nets before to space plants like @M.O.
This is my first time weaving and doing a real scrog.
I have limited height and I have a feeling these are gonna really stretch when I flip to 12/12.

I use a 4" to keep the plant low and wide and sometimes a 2nd 6" for support, I'd go with 3-4" for a control screen._20210921_135919.JPG

You should still weave your branches until your stretches done and then your buds will all start to come up and that is what your secondary net is for to stabilize those buds and not break your branches but if you’re not weaving through your net you’re not really actually scroging anything

3 inch squares are best. Makes it easier to train without harming the plants.

Just finished the frame. I made it out of 22mm pvc pipe. I spaced the screws 2” apart so I can make it up with 2”, 4” or 6” squares.

Half way through drilling the holes for 2” squares, I started to wish I went with 4”.

2nd screen will be 3” squares.

I went with 2” for my first net because my plants are already LST‘d and the tops are quite close together.
Im going to make a second screen with 3” squares to support buds.
