Can’t yield more than 2 zips a plant

250W HPS is not a lot of photons. you need 48 of them to make one glucose molecule from CO2 in the air.
how do you calculate how much your lamp has?whats the average? whats good whats bad. i never saw a table using protons, but its a cool info to know :D

on the old forum i was there was a dude that did 2.8g on the new attis lamps. nice lamps but 600W costs around 900$ if i remember good

If efficiencies of LED are correct, and LED is 1/3 more efficient than HID, a 250w HID is equal to a 166w LED using the very best Samsung/Osram diodes.
GsvitA says their 1700e, of which I have is AN EQUAL REPLACEMENT FOR A 1000W HID. They dont say its better, only a 1 x 1 Replacement for the 100w HID.

The Gavita 1700e is 1700umol. A 1000w Hortilux HPS is 1600umol.

A DE 1150w Gavita HID is 2100umol

That's quite an assumption. Many, myself included, have used them previously and have migrated to more efficient (better) LEDs as they became available.

A 250w MH/HPS is better than nothing, but pales in comparison to even the low-end 150w LED alternatives.
Have you read through this thread?
Don't see anyone saying 250mh are a good light to veg your plants off, like me you know they are and the 250w hps would do a great job at flowering them off, (2 short bushy plants). the OP was asking about the crop size, saying he can't pull more than 2 zips, 4-6zips is possible.
LEDs are more effective than HPS but you can still pull some very high-quality buds with HPS, their unrated is what if have seen over the last 2-to 3 years on the forums, there are more effective than some of the cheap LEDs you can buy.

It doesn't matter if using an HID or LED. Not enough light is not enough light. Not to get into the HID vs LED debate but a $130 600 watt HID would likely double their harvest. The same would happen if they went to a 450 watt LED. The difference in upfront costs is significant though.

You can use a lux meter app on your phone and keep the lux between 40k and 70k at the canopy level (flower)

Do you know the size of the flower room?

Well they didn't post it in this thread but i just looked and in another thread they say 2' x 2'. That's pretty limiting and too small for a 600 watt HID. You could pull off a 400 watt if it was in a sealed hood. But for that matter even a decent LED could present heat issues depending on how they are setup.

That's 62w per ft2, sounds good to me, 400w would be a total overkill at 100w ft2

A 250w hps is pretty much perfect for a 2x2. Should end up with the same light level as 600w in a 1sqm tent.

If I had anywhere over 50+ Lux my plants for sure would fry. I was down around 40k for flower 25k veg
Must be down to heat or something else, plants should not fry at 50k, can be touch and go over 70k but many growers would chuck close to 100k at their plants, too much IMO

40k Lux for me is 660umol. mine get deficiencies if I try to go over. I am forced to run high 70’s though heat wise.
