Hi everyone just wondering if any of you use some kind of light proof sheet over your tents to help avoid light leaks during the dark period? Thanks.

Just drape a quality tent over the shitty tent.

I have yet to own a tent without the odd pinprick of light especially when the airflow is pulling the edge of tent inwards and distorting the original shape of the tent. I find the smaller 1.2m2 to have insufficient covers over the zip too.

Thanks hydrokid239 I have a spare tent which is slighty taller so I will try that. I have black and white sheeting but not trust it entirely.

Yes Grojak I have recently had hermie issues two consecutive times, once with fems then with regs from seed. This was in a 1.2m2 using 400mh late veg/early flower then 600w hps which may have been my problem. I have noticed many leaks on the zips of the initial tent. I then used a different one which worked once with no seeds/herms with four regular plants from seed.

I enter my room as needed lights on or off
With rare exception I think folks concerned about pin hole leaks causing hermies are chasing their tail
Usually hermies are either breeder issues or abuse like pest or feed/water schedules…
At least that has been my observation
When I used tents I never worried if the zipper was even closed in a window lit room

Thanks for the advice I will think about my water and feeding routines with more care now. I have used organic feeds and canna terra in the recent past. Using John innes soils.

It’s possible your issue is tent related but not common at least
Usually newbs going in every few hours daily

i use black gorilla tape over all the seams and hang blackout sheets on two sides as its in a corner.

These are similar to the ones I use. I have the rod hanging from the ceiling, but I used to just throw it onto the top of the tent. It makes my grow feel like a Broadway theater and my plants are the stars.

No. I’ve also got multiple lights in there from timers and controls. Some of these tales are a reach.

Is it fair to say that the majority of people don't believe light leaks to be a major reason or contributor to hermie probs then? Or is this only a problem if growing from seed? I have grown clones myself without issues with light leaks as I often left vents open without problems. Thanks.

I’ve never had an issue from seed or clones. Now if there’s a strong source of light very close to a hole bigger than a pinhole you might. But I think most people getting hermies get them from overall stress and genetics.

ive even heard of humic acid causing herms in flower. duke mentioned it in for purple dahlia

If humic is supplemented it will without doubt cause herm flowers at node points. One of the best plants other than this one issue. Avoid the humic to save money. "

Well I’ve looked through every scientific paper I can find and there’s absolutely nothing. Allegorical evidence is barely worth shit. Duke Dahlia? Lol.
