Sexing regs without flipping to 12/12

Is this chick on IG crazy? She keeps posting pics of her plants asking male or female, in veg, and has been convinced 90% are male based on the way they look without ever even being flipped.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, but,THE way to sex is flipping to 12/12 and flipping back, correct?

is chick crazy or can she sex in veg…?

Reducing light output of mature plants usually will show traits and preflowers
I wouldn’t try flipping then flipping back though sounds like a potential mess

Very interesting information in here. I thought the “gold standard” was flipping for two weeks, picking out males, then going back to 18/6. I guess I was mistaken.

It is
But I have a lot of plants sitting in low light conditions waiting for their turn and most show sex before I even move to final pots
Albeit a bit stressed as well

No, some may do it that way but it is not really needed at all, just keep vegging until the plant reaches maturity, from there she would be ready to flower.. Preflowers = maturity and could be flip to 12/12 to flower.

Do these preflower that show sex in veg bust open and ruin plants, or no?

One thing to keep an eye on if its new runs would be auto flowering, there is a difference from pre flower and auto flower.

I can be pretty accurate determining male or female after just a few weeks from sprouting with a couple of strains I've been working on for a few years. The males are always taller than the females. But that's nothing scientific and only with a few strains that I have a lot of experience growing from seed.

they call it 'Monster Cropping'!!! but it may be a hoax ... but revegged plants show some heavy growth and super large leaves for some time but still the transition time from flower back to veg may offset the gain...

A breeder told me that he keeps the plants in small pots, then clones them and keeps the clones as the plants for the next run. He then flowers the original plants to determine the sex. Once he figures out what's what, he gets rid of those original plants along with the male clones, and eventually flowers the rest.

I've heard of people doing it the other way around where they flower the clones instead of the original plants. You don't have to wait for the clones to root before flipping them if you do it this way. So the clones are rooting while you're sexing the OG plants, and your schedule doesn't fall too far behind normal.

Clone everything and decide after 2nd run
Excluding males

That's what I've been doing during my pheno hunt. I'm bonsai mothering everything, then reducing them down to anything with potential after the harvest. Once I'm done with the seed phase of the hunt, I will rerun them for a second round of elimination. Then I'll probably start another pheno hunt because it's addictive.

Gonna pick your brain for a minute. I want to pheno hunt, keep, and so on. I can only
Veg four and flower four. For me, the idea of keeping the same four, indefinitely, doesn’t seem like what I want to do. Do you have a larger scale, or why do you pheno hunt and keep, vs running say four tried clones at a time? I’m not at all saying you’re wrong. I’m intrigued and looking for more information.

I, unfortunately, don’t have any customers, so I get bored with the same stuff after about a quarter lb of it, personally.

Maybe pheno hunting for desirable stuff if there’s a market, I can see it.
