Stretch

Does a plant stretch more in veg or flower???
Speaking as most would here the response would be Flower.

but if you look at it objectionally.

The “Stretch” which is the transition from Veg to Flower is actually considered to still be VEG growth.

So the correct answer to your question would actually be VEG lol.

I want them tall... Look at all this room... One is topped, one is not... I want to encourage them to stretch out!!!View attachment 5094041
Careful what you wish for, I have one right now that was 17" tall and topped 4x before flipping, and finally stopped stretching at 40" tall, 6" above my intended maximum height and a total stretch of 23" or 135%. I had to dim my light just a bit to compensate.

More reds / less blues should help. Bust out the trusty blurple, and just flick the bloom switch.. just kidding.. dontchu ever do that (but it might work)
serious answer below:
You can dim the light/raise it to help they stretch some.. but then you may need to supplement heat to keep your leaves warm.

Varies wildly from strain to strain in my experience, some stretch 30%..others 300%

Never sure what's gonna happen till you flip when growing from seed. I always have the hindsight to see that I shoulda flipped them sooner

I've got an SE5000 in a 3x3, I'm sure light penetration won't be a problem...
Dude I really want to figure out how this works. A few people have said measuring watts per cubic foot is better than square feet. That makes sense to me, but how do you quantify that? Is diode spacing a variable? Two lights that draw the same wattage from the wall may or may not put out the same amount of energy from the same height...right?

Learning is hard lol

This clone stretched to hell because I have the light dimmed to 25%. I still have other cuts I’m trying to get roots on so I don’t wanna blast it. This is what I got on the flip side. My other cuts that already rooted.. look like this. The lights are about 14” from the tops of the clone shown here. Puts them 24” from the fresh cuts. 57BBABFD-D2B1-48A2-8D2B-404370975E04.jpeg

I have no idea... All I know is that the light works great for me and my plants and that's all that matters to me... All that stuff you're talking about is going down in another thread... All I'm asking about is the stretch...

You really should keep vegging and train those plants first. But that's me.

It's almost 55 watts per SQ ft. I was laughing cause that's damn sure enough haha. Props, man.
They've been trying to explain this light stuff to me for years and I still don't get it... I'm like, does it work well for you, ok,I'll buy one!!! But truth be told,I haven't bought a light in a while...
