Once you hit stretch, you will be grinning...a good way to figure out whether your plants are "small" or not is to go by internode count instead of height. You look fine on that note. If they were the same size with 6 nodes and minimal satellite growth I'd be worried.
What is a small plant internode count?
Do you have a picture of your 11 node ten inch tall plant?
Here it is at 13" now.
I think you may be confused over the definition of a node. I see three nodes in the first few inches and then they start to space out. But the first three are tight.
if it makes you sleep better, here's a tape measure beside the fifth node.

I've been wondering about that. I've been itching to get rid of some of the stuff that I know will amount to nothing so I can open it up a bit but all the resources I've been able to find say that it should be done when you switch to 12/12 or within a few weeks after that. Is it safe to do it while it's still vegetating? Is it a bad idea to do it within a couple weeks before flipping?

I'm anticipating having 2 weeks or so post-harvest where fresh clones will be in the smaller cloning area taking root and getting ready for the veg box. During that time the veg box will be empty so I was thinking I'd hang the harvested plants up in there while the clones are still rooting. I'm hoping that's enough time for them to dry out and also hoping that I can keep the environment within the temperature and humidity ranges that people say are required.

It sounds like you have a good plan.
Super dense canopy make sure to trim out the bottom stuff or you'll get light deprived fluffed buds that waste energy from the mains. Looking good for a beginner man. Keep it up. As long as you don't make the same mistakes over and over that's just a part of learning. Best way is to mess up and try try again. Eventually you'll get a method going, you'll be more 'dialed in' and be able to make more educated decisions. Good job.
It looks like you have them dialed in. Excellent! I've only had one auto but I would anticipate 7 weeks left if you're relying on the days to flower advertised on the seed packet.
I trimmed all the small lower branches that didn’t reach the canopy but I left enough lower fan leaves to catch what light does manage to make it down that far. I figure if there’s light left coming through then the plant might as well receive it. Is that naïve? Will the plant focus too much energy on fan leaves too?
These four are photoperiod plants from the same batch but I am going by the advertised flower duration. I also have a nifty USB microscope to inspect with when the time comes.
Next time I'd remove the smaller stuff and focus on the larger branches.
My first time, I used a gallon milk jug, rubber aquarium tubing, and aquarium pump, aquarium gravel, timer, and 32 OZ fun cups. Miracle Grow was my feed, lol.
