Guy was super nice! there is a dispensary every 100 meters as you drive down the main drag into Deseronto, some good some bad lol. I had to 1187 two chickens last week as they became ill. I see another exibiting illness today, so I'll be down to six shortly. Can only guess that migratory birds brought something that's making the chickens sick.

The garden will be different this year with more food being grown to be preserved/frozen. Mason jars nearly doubled in price since last year but will get stock up early while supplies last.

That's pretty ridiculous that people living in the country that produces the largest amount of palm oil in the world can't get it. It all comes down to greed which happens in every country.


All they have to do is cut back on using oil to cook with. It's healthier anyway.

This part of the article is spot on.

A neighbour contracted corn at $9.20/bushel, which is high. He grows sweet potatoes, spelt, corn and soybeans. He also owns/operates a gluten free mill. Oats have doubled in price and shipping costs from the US have gone from $2800/load to $6500/load. The consumer will naturally end up paying for these increases as corporation profits soar.

Aside from our property, my entire retirement income is hinged on RRSPs, with diverse areas of investment and associated risks. If these companies are in my portfolio, it's difficult to view their record profits as a detriment. It's a bit of an internal conflict for me.

Yes I get it totally but I still feel for the people that are struggling right now, trying to put food on the table and not able too. My grocery bill has close to doubled but I admit I don’t chase the sales. My retirement equity is mostly properties. The goverment is trying to cool that market (which is also out of control) but the price of everything else is allowed to soar . I would also imagine there is a lot of price manipulation among the large chains .

Things are speeding up, the two top producers of palm oil have enacted export bans on it, they produce 75% of the worlds supply. Russia and Ukraine supplied much of the worlds sunflower oil. Canada,s rapeseed oil production is down from last years drought. Prices on vegetable oil are skyrocketing and many countries rely on it heavily for cooking and calories. Believe it or not this could kill 10's to 100's of millions of people from starvation. Palm oil production is also down from labor shortages because of covid.
