2x2x5 Veg Tent Ventilation Question

Curious to get some thoughts on whether or not ventilation is necessary for my 2x2x5 veg tent.

I'm using an HLG 65 and with lights on I'm averaging 80F and 40RH. I have the flaps open on the sides of the tent and exhaust holes near the top open as well. The tent is in a room that gets lots of fresh air via open windows.

I was contemplating trying the S3 airplate from ac infinity to pull some additional air but not sure that is necessary. Thanks!

You at least have a fan inside circulating air right?

I’m running 150w led in a 27”x27” and if I didn’t ventilate/exchange air.. it’d be way too hot… I know because the cheap 4” fan I have in there got unplugged unintentionally & temps hit 90F. I caught it hours into it being unplugged. If the aroma of weed is ok in your place just open the tent & point a fan in there. That should exchange enough air for you. You will want some type of ventilation by the time you flower tho, or humidity may claim your harvest before you get to enjoy it. Good luck.

edit: just realized you said it’s just a veg tent. :eyesmoke:

I do have a small oscillating fan moving air inside the tent.

I guess my end goal is to have 1 small mother in like a 3gal and then 4 1gal pots for new plant starts. I think that's all the room I'll have. At that capacity I'm kinda leaning towards getting something to pull some more oxygen in.
You can do magic in a 1gal. This is what I have in my 27” x27” tent. Just 1 small fan moving air & a cheap 4” in-line fan on the roof with ducting. I open it up & let the fan blow the tops around daily so the stems harden up a little.
I was going to use her as a mother, but I would want the mom to be smaller in size. So I flipped her. I have another cut in a solo cup. I have cuts of all 4 strains I ran in my last crop sitting in solo cups. They been in there since February. I keep snipping them to keep them small & water daily. You’ll want the air exchange, I use one of these in my veg tent. It fits the fan hole perfectly and takes up no space. You don’t need to hook it to a filter just fit it in the hole and clip it to the pole

I’d try getting that humidity up too. 40s low, won’t kill ‘em but they’ll definitely be slower than if everything were optimal.

I'm trying to avoid the inline fan in such a small grow space if a smaller option will work.

I'm vegging a bunch of plants in a 2x4x5'h tent in a spare bedroom and got a few small USB powered desk fans at a dollar store for $5 each and had a cheap plug-in USB power unit. Just stuck it in the top vent blowing outwards and the folding triangular shaped legs stick up enough to put a bamboo stake thru them to keep it securely in place. It's plugged into my light timer so shuts off when the lights go out. Works fine for a tent twice the volume of yours so should work fine for you. So quiet you can't tell it's on until you feel the air blowing out.

That’s the exact same fan I’m using.

I was an ardent Marxist Leninist for quite some time. I’ve lost faith in humanity’s future though and drifted back to my anarchic egoism.

You need air exchange, blowing the same air with all the co2 used up is pointless.

You need to bring fresh air in and usually the most cost effective way is a fan pulling the hot air out from the top port- leaving a bottom flaps open for passive air intake.

you can get a 4” inline fan for real cheap. If it has a controller on it you can turn it up or down depending on your needs.

it’s better to get a fan that has a little more power than you need. That way you can run it at a lower speed which will be more quiet.

edited out the “put less strain on motor” see prophets comment
