Curing Smell

I just dried for 11 days at 60%RH and 65°F.

Put in curing jars. 3 plants.

It smells like a great tea but not like what was growing in my tent. I read the fragrance will come back after a few weeks. The chlorophyll needs to dissipate. I burp at 6am and 6pm for 15 minutes in a dark cool, humidity controlled area.

Am I screwed? What should I do?

What's the rh in the jars?

I don't think you let it dry enough before jarring, probably why you are getting a grassy/straw smell.

Drying & Curing for Quality
  1. Harvest plants when ready
  2. Chop branches into a length you can comfortably pluck the fan leaves off
  3. Pluck all fan leaves off the branches then hang on clothes hanger (Mainly shoot for leaves with long stems/tails)
  4. Hang clothes hanger in a dark room/tent/closet at 60-65 °F | 60-65% RH
  5. Have a ventilation fan or some form of fan to move air in the space but not directly blow onto the branches. Passive airflow is key to avoiding the grass smell from too fast of drying.
  6. Usually 14-16 days later the buds will be crispy and dry enough to trim (make sure stems snap and don't fold like a straw)
  7. Trim buds, remove excess stem and put into a sealed container
  8. Open the sealed container once a day for 10-20 mins and move buds around gently to aerate everything with fresh air until desired result.

I followed that line by line. Everyone else thinks it smells like marijuana but it does not smell anything like it did when it was growing.

Not to be that guy.

I think you jarred it a bit early. Do leaves bend when you touch them or do they flick off at this point? Possible that it just didn't dry enough before being sealed up. It's normal for the smell to change slightly from the living plant to the bag.

They flick off. The stems snapped when they were hanging. I let them hang an additional day. Then I trimmed.

I'm thinking about putting it back in the tent on a glass platter

If the stems snap they r over dry in my opinion. I go for when the sticks make a splintering noise. Usually they will snap at the base of the stick where it was cut by the stalk. Splinter in the middle but not snap. That's when I go into jars

Burp for another day or 2 and she will get to like 54-56 rh. That's when i stop burping. Try 2 experiment. If you can find the sweet spot and get buds into jars with less burping curing goes faster. Go up 5 degrees or hang for an extra day next time

Been burping 2 x a day for the past week. 15 minutes each time. Should I put any packs inside. Didn't want to as I hear it makes the weed smell like cardboard?

In jars in a dark humidity controlled basement.

If you already hung the buds for a couple weeks for your initial cure then put it in jars it's not going to change much in character. I wouldn't recommend using any moisture packs they are a waste of money, if your weed is dry enough to need moisture packs it's already too late. To maintain moisture you can store in a sealed container or if they get a little dry you can put a moist paper towel in the jar for a couple hours and it should restore moisture. Save dat money.

If my buds ever get too dry i just take a smaller fan leaf or two and throw them in the jar. It restores moisture in no time at all. I read that on this site somewhere and was good tip.
That is smart lol never thought of that. Never had issues with fan leaves leaving behind a smell as they deteriorate? No pun intended.
